My fiancé (Amanda) and I decided to stop into the Diamond Cellar on Sawmill a few months ago when we began talking about getting engaged. Every time we drove past the DC, I joked with her and asked if she wanted to go look and she gave me the typical “oh be quiet”. We finally said why not since we were both very naïve when it came to jewelry and diamonds.
We were greeted at the front by a worker and they had great coffee and other beverages to sip on while we waited for a sales associate to free up. We were then introduced to Sarah Schaffner who took us upstairs to the engagement ring section. They had a huge selection of rings at many different price points. Sarah was patient and walked us through every case so that Amanda could look at all of the styles. She eventually picked out a handful that she liked, and I tried to take mental notes of those particular features that she liked on each. I liked them all too but was envisioning something a bit different, so I decided to stop back in at a later date without Amanda.
We discussed doing a custom ring and putting together some of Amanda’s favorite features of each that she previously had looked at. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the “custom” piece wasn’t nearly as expensive as I initially thought it would be. We sat down with one of the CAD designers to go over the specific dimensions and diamond sizes that I wanted on the ring. I then picked out the main diamond, but first shopped around to ensure that I was getting a fair price. The DC has a price matching policy for any diamond with the same specs at a competitor’s brick and mortar store, which will ensure that you are getting the best price in town. Once I felt comfortable with the design, I put down a deposit so that they could begin a full CAD design on the ring. Once that was completed, I was able to look at a very lifelike computer design of the final. I then gave the “ok” to begin the casting process. After a few more weeks, the ring was
