Originally signed a day of services contract in 9/2016 for an event 10/2017. Due to medical reasons, had to move wedding up to 6/2017. Tara was already booked for an event but assured us via text messages that her 2 most seasoned assistants would be at our event.
One assistant left shortly after the ceremony (after making herself a to-go plate) telling guests she had to go to the other event tara was at.
Per the contract, day of and week of event, collection of all celebration elements was NOT done, coordinate all aspects of wedding was NOT done, oversee the check in of rentals was NOT done (my husband was there, Tara / assistant was not), provide event emergency kit (sewing kit, stain remover, etc.) was NOT done, cue all music with the DJ was NOT done (the wedding procession timing was off because the assistant didn’t use the typed instructions we provided), cue guest of honor and family for special moment including cake cutting, toast and dances was NOT done (2 friends and the photographer had to coordinate those moments), manage and remedy all moment-to-moment challenges was NOT done, collection of celebration elements or gifts was NOT done – again, done by friends.
I wish we had the stellar experience as stated in other reviews. My husband called to discuss our dissatisfaction with the event and asked for a partial refund (she refused because she said she already gave us a discount in September at contract signing, because of the medical reasons which we didn’t know of until January) because the contract was NOT honored and we did NOT want to give her a bad review. She said she did the best she could, made excuses and placed blame on us for her overbooking herself. All she had to do was tell us no which would’ve been fine since we did the event pretty much on our own.
Save your money; wish we did.

Terrible mistake hiring this vendor for day-of wedding help. Broke the terms of the contract in numerous ways. We feel scammed and hope others will be warned not to make the same mistake.

In writing my review the most powerful thing I can say is don’t take my word for it, go read ALL the other reviews on the knot.com and weddingwire.com. When you read the surplus of bad reviews, know that it is not a fluke, many people have used DG Events operated by Tara Gonzales and it was a NIGHTMARE.

To briefly detail my experience, at this very first appointment, Tara went out of her way to say she has vendors she likes working with because they work well together and she knows there will be no problems. Great, we were all for that—cheers to good vendors.

As time passed and I would contact her to say hey we need recommendations for x, y, and z. This is where all the problems began. Here are a few instances which led us to firing her: 1) I would send her an email and she would not respond. After waiting for 10 days once, I called and she said she JUST GOT MY EMAIL. 2) She would make a plan to call me on a certain day and time. She would set the appointments and never call. This happened on more than one occasion (many more). After the last incident, she called me and said she had a timer go off to remind her to call me but she was busy. When your entire job is to communicate, using the excuse of being busy just doesn’t cut it. In addition, she let me know that it wasn’t her job to talk to me before the wedding. Let me circle back to the beginning of the story where she told me she had vendors she wanted to work with, but now it’s not her job to talk to me.

After about 5 incidents of no communication, I asked her for a refund. If she could not make the time to call me back, for an appointment she set, how was she going to be the point of contact for my 13 other vendors. She denied my request for a refund stating she did nothing wrong. Do your research and book someone with great reviews—you won't regret it!

SCAM......SCAM.....SHOP AROUND! DG Events (Tara Gonzales) is a SCAM. She was very nice initially. I booked her in October 2017 (even after reading the reviews; I gave her a try). However, I was upset with her service. For the initial charge, it was half $550. When I looked at my credit card statement, she charged $600. I asked her for the extra charge and she stated that she has to pay taxes. It's understandable that taxes need to be paid. However, it was not stated in her contract. She became argumentative instead of listening and supportive. She tried to defend herself (RED FLAG). As a bride, I was already stress and to receive stress from my wedding planner was not necessary. Months pass by and she did not try to stay in touch with me. Since her contract stated that she'll reach out to me a month before the wedding. I gave her another benefit. Once again, she failed. She did not call, email, nor text. By March 5, 2018, I decided to email her and tell her that she will no longer be my wedding planner. I have not received a call asking why or email. She is pitiful and I will NOT recommend her to anyone.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
