History

Built in 1716, the inn was used as a storehouse for arms and provisions during the Revolutionary War. In 1775, British forces marched on Concord, intent on destroying the inn’s cache of supplies. On April 19th, they were met at the North Bridge by local Minutemen, and battle was joined. This marked the beginning of the American Revolution. From 1835 to 1837, the inn played host to the famous essayist, poet, and philosopher, Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau resided at the inn while studying at Harvard. The property was given its current name in 1900. In 2016, it celebrated its 300th anniversary.

Amazing early September wedding

My husband and I were looking for a venue that offered gluten free reception options. The event planner Marie, went above and beyond to work with the chef to accommodate a fully gluten free meal for the reception and also the post wedding breakfast. The staff was beyond helpful and patient with all of our questions. We had the best night of our lives. We highly recommend Concord’s Colonial Inn for any event, especially intimate weddings.

A perfect day!

Everyone at Concord's Colonial Inn was fabulous and helped us have the perfect wedding day! From start to finish, we were in good hands. We worked with Chris Tarris (Director of Sales) throughout the planning process. She brought professionalism and care to every question and helped us craft our special day.

The venue allowed us to have the ceremony and reception on site and had rooms for our out of town guests and for us to get ready in. The food was also phenomenal!

Could not ask for more!

Christine, the coordinator, at the Concord Colonial Inn is one of the world's greatest! Colonial Inn went above and beyond to make our COVID-19 -era micro-wedding of 18 guests (including us) out of this world. They were insanely flexible and went above and beyond to make our newly planned wedding in just a month from non-existent to absolutely perfect! I highly recommend them for anyone's wedding day -- the team there is absolutely wonderful and you will not be disappointed on your day!! Thank you again for making our wedding fantastic!! Our family will be back as loyal patrons!

Venue-zilla

We had our wedding here in April, and I've been struggling to decide how to rate the Colonial Inn. We ended up having a very fun wedding, but only after the Inn nearly cratered the entire event two weeks before.

We booked the Inn over a year before our wedding, and we reserved the cottage for the weekend. One of the main reasons we chose this venue is because of this adjoining cottage, where we were planning to hang out all weekend and host an after party. The cottage was very important to us. However, without any warning, our contact at the Inn called us two weeks before the wedding and told us the cottage was "no longer available." They blamed this on overbooking due to new reservation software, but we'd booked the cottage a year earlier, and they never gave us a real explanation for why we couldn't have the cottage. It seemed like they might have even bumped us so they could let out the cottage for a long-term lease. Regardless of the cause, though, this quickly shattered any trust we had in the Inn.

After a couple of dozen calls with the Inn coordinator and the managers, and after threatening to pull out and find a different venue, we finally managed to resolve this issue—sort of. Instead of the cottage, they let us stay in a different house next door. The catch was that this house was unfurnished! Another dozen calls later and they agreed to furnish the house so we could stay in it. They did a decent job with the furnishing, and we were able to spend the weekend there, but it was not spectacular, and the house was definitely still a disappointment compared to what we were expecting from the cottage.

Note that some of our guests also reported overbooking issues for their rooms at the Inn, so this was apparently not a one-off issue.

We ended up having a nice weekend in Concord, and the wedding went off very well (although the food is also only decent). But I would stay far away from this venue unless they fix these issues and regain our trust.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.

This venue has character. It is straight out of colonial times (literally), and has the charm of an historic hotel. Under new ownership, Concord Colonial Inn is looking to expand and freshen up a bit. Looking forward to seeing how they take their classic colonial charm into the current day.
