Cancelled on the client the day of, never paid her other vendor that covered the event
BRIDES BE AWARE OF BETHANY COLBURN PHOTOGRAPHY
I feel compelled to share my recent experience with Bethany Faith (Bethany Colburn https://www.facebook.com/colburncreative) who was initially hired to photograph a wedding on August 4th, at The Arbor. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the original photographer couldn't attend and asked me to step in as a backup at the last minute.
I traveled from Connecticut (where I was shooting the night before) to New York to cover the event, and while I didn’t have a formal contract in place (which I acknowledge was a lapse on my part), the original photographer had already collected the full payment from the bride before the wedding.
Despite my role in ensuring the event was covered, I have yet to receive the payment owed to me. It’s been 30 days since the wedding, with two reminders and an invoice emailed within 48 hours of the wedding. I gave the photographer plenty of time. This is highly unprofessional and disruptive, especially given that the photographer had already spent the retainer and the remaining amount from the client.
I understand that financial challenges can arise, but this is not an isolated incident with the photographer. This pattern of behavior reflects poor business practices and a lack of respect for those who step in to help.
I have issued a formal letter of demand for payment but have received no response. The bride is understandably frustrated, and while I cannot release the images directly to her due to the unresolved payment issue, I wanted to make sure other brides are aware of this situation.
To any brides considering Bethany Colburn, please be cautious. Protect yourselves from potential issues by working with photographers who maintain professionalism and adhere to agreed-upon terms.
