Brides Beware of Black Mold

Very disappointed, the house was in need of serious attention, it had black mold on walls, doors and barn. The barn had water damage and leaked during the rain. The Venue was not cleaned before we arrived and we had to pick up glass and trash before the wedding. When we contacted the owner she ignored our calls. The chairs were broken, the theater didn't work, the spa was brown. This property needs to be completely refurbished before they rent it again.

Awful wedding experience

Do NOT book with these people — nightmare wedding experience!
We booked our wedding at this venue, and initially, it seemed like everything would be great. It's a family-run Airbnb/event space, and Amy (the daughter) was our main contact. Unfortunately, communication with her was horrible — slow responses, unanswered calls, and repeated lies.
When we toured, Amy and her mother assured us the venue would be clean and everything in working order. They also promised that as an Airbnb, the house would be fully stocked (aside from food). I even confirmed this via text as our wedding date approached.
But when we arrived, it all went downhill.
• There was trash on the back patio, broken chairs on the front porch, and chips under several beds.
• The movie room didn’t work.
• No shampoo, conditioner, or soap — despite their promises.
• The barn (our ceremony site) was a disaster: broken glass, dirty tables, leftover food, wedding timelines from a month ago — clearly not cleaned at all.
My husband tried to contact Amy, but she ignored us for nearly two hours and wouldn’t answer our calls. Out of frustration, he left a voicemail saying she needed to call us "right f***ing now" — which we admit wasn’t ideal — but we were panicked and overwhelmed.
Instead of a resolution, we got a call from her father who cussed us out for an hour, called us liars, denied everything, and even threatened to kick us out and ruin our wedding. When we offered to send photo proof, he just yelled over us.
We bought our own shower and cleaning supplies (which they promised to reimburse — they didn’t) and were told a cleaning crew would come clean the barn Friday. That "crew" turned out to be his wife with a kitchen broom. They made us wait another full day while still denying the condition we found the place in.
We tried to enjoy our wedding day, but even then:
• The hot tub was dirty
• The projector didn’t work
• There was mold on the sliding doors we needed for our "first touch" moment
• The barn leaked when it rained — water came in and soaked part of our dance floor
Checkout was supposed to be at 3PM per our signed contract. At 10:45AM, cleaners arrived demanding we leave. I showed them our contract, and they left. An hour later, I got a text admitting the cleaners were wrong. No apology.
Lastly, we had a security deposit in our contract that they’re now refusing to return, claiming it was never paid. We consulted a lawyer, who confirmed our contract includes the deposit and they’re legally in the wrong. But now they’re trying to avoid paying us back, hoping we won’t pursue it.
In summary:
• This venue was dirty, poorly maintained, and unprofessional
• The family running it was aggressive, dishonest, and downright abusive
• They ruined what should have been the happiest time of our lives
If you're a future bride or guest, please think twice before booking this place. It’s not worth the stress. Even if others had a good experience — we didn’t, and it cost us thousands of dollars and so much emotional distress.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
