I received nothing but wonderful compliments on the food. Marty is very experienced and with him as your caterer, you won't need a wedding planner at all! He has a very relaxed personality, has fun with what he does, and is all around a good business person.

The food that they provided for our wedding was delicious, and multiple people commented on this. However, the people they sent to serve seemed inexperienced and unfamiliar with the previously discussed arrangements for the event. They were very nice young people but they seemed in over their heads. We apparently ran out of coffee early on, even though the head count we gave them wound up being over by about 15 people. The person who was serving the beer couldn't figure out how the kegs worked. I think this is a very good business which needs to work on their polish and execution--while they were very good at answering emails promptly in most cases they were hard to contact by phone (being so busy) and sometimes would forget to email receipts and whatnot. Seems they need to hire more help on the administrative and organizational end, and train their employees a little more. But again, WONDERFUL food, good value, and nice people to deal with for the whole process. Just make sure you hammer out a detailed timeline with them, and verify the details. I wish we had gone over that aspect a little more, but that is our fault as well.

DON'T. We were supposed to have Beef Wellington. That is a filet mignon w/goose liver late cooked medium rare. With puff pastry with a cherry brandy glaze. What was served was WELL done tough, stringy dry beef. Not a filet. No pate, puff pastry gooey not crisp and puffed. No cherry brandy glAze. Potatoes were like breakfast potatoes, only served cool, not even warm and very dry. No flavour. Green beans not washed or even the stem END REMOVED. Cold.

Every wedding has a problematic vendor - for us, that was Chef Mickey's. They were terrible at getting back to us until the week of the wedding, and then wouldn't adjust for our final numbers. Apparently they needed this 10 days in advance, but never told me that the 3x I asked (they never called me back). They gave us about 5 different prices a couple days before our wedding, and their final quote to us was still wrong and charged us for a bartender we didn't use, but we finally just gave up and paid them because we ran out of time and energy.
Their responsiveness was just awful. We live 200+ miles away from Iowa City and we tried to meet with vendors when we were in town. They'd never get back to us and we were never able to connect with them when we were free. It was really frustrating.
The one good thing about these guys is that their food is pretty good. Our guests were pretty happy with them, although the food wasn't as good as it was when we tasted it - we attribute that to cooking for 100 people though.
