Spinning J Bakery and Soda Fountain is part of our weekly routine. My new husband and I have been frequent visitors to this wonderful establishment in our neighborhood; we can't get enough of their pies. We knew immediately that we wanted to have pies at our wedding. Dinah is talented - everything she makes is delicious. She made sure to have our favorites: apple pie and raspberry, pear, ginger crumble pie. We also had smore, banana creme, and blueberry creme. The pies were one of the biggest "hits" of the wedding...people couldn't stop talking about them! Dinah also made bite-size cookies for the end of the evening that were also a hit! We are glad we didn't do a traditional wedding cake and highly recommend Dinah and Spinning J if you are considering pies for your wedding!

We recently had Cheap Tart pies at our wedding as part of our dessert table, and I can't say enough about Dinah or her amazing pies!

Dinah was lovely to work with! My mom and I met with her for a tasting and it felt like we were having pie and coffee with a friend. She is SO real and down-to-earth, very honest, and very excited about her craft. She is committed to using as many organic and local ingredients as possible, and she uses only what's in season- which, in addition to being responsible is also one of the reasons her pies taste so delicious!

The pies are absolutely freaking fantastic. I mean, perfect. I can't tell you how much everyone raved about them. Dinah created a gorgeous display for us: we had a dessert table absolutely overflowing with Cheap Tart pies as well as cookies, candies, chocolate truffles, macarons- and not a single SLICE of pie was left over. Jay and I ate 2 bites each of our favorite (maple pecan!) and we should have tucked a pie away for us to enjoy later. No leftovers! Even my 85 year old Sicilian aunt who baked 10 trays of Sicilian cookies for the wedding told me "I was scared when you said there was no wedding cake. I've never been to a wedding without cake! But these pies, these are better than all the cakes."

I'm so glad that someone in Chicago is baking with care and love. Someone who bakes responsibly and with intention to create a high quality product instead of churning out sub-standard, unexceptional (albeit trendy) goods.

Chicago is a better place with Cheap Tart around to satiate our cravings! Support artists like Dinah! Go eat pie!
