I attended a wedding at Casa Lago on Saturday 6/20/2026. The wedding was beautiful and the caterers were great. No complaints there. The owner, or whomever it was that was running the place, was a complete jerk. When asked prior to the wedding regarding any rules and or any part of the grounds that were off limits to guests he stated that there were no rules and every event tends to run a little differently. Part of the ambiance of the property was the gorgeous lake on site. On this lake was a quaint little dock and rowboat, which during the reception my wife and I took for a quiet row. We immediately got hailed by security (thugs really) and were asked to return to the dock. No big deal, you would think. There were no signs or anything to indicate this was not allowed. Once we returned to the dock, we were instructed we had to leave the venue. I was floored. We had driven a long way and booked a very expensive hotel and the bride and groom were wonderful friends of ours. My wife and I, are not young hooligans and I am a very experienced boater (I've paddle solo from Catalina to Newport Beach) and to not be allowed to go back to the reception was absolutely ridiculous. The owner or manager never came down and all instructions were given by the security thugs. The last thing we wanted to do was create a scene for the bride and groom so we bowed out gracefully and left. This was a first class wedding. We spent a lot of money not only getting up to LA, but also for our hotel, shuttles, new clothes, etc.. but more then that, we missed out on a very special evening with dear friends. We could have been asked to not use the boat again and we would have returned to our seats and enjoyed the rest of the night. It would have been that easy, but instead, the owner/manager, for whatever strange reason, had something to prove. It was an ugly experience that did not have to happen. Head shaker all the way. I would never recommend this venue to anyone.
