What a hidden jewel the Caribou Bay Retreat is!
My only daughter was engaged to be married and her and her fiancée wanted an outdoor venue with woods and water. We had looked at several places and none of them were exactly what my daughter had dreamed of. When we first met Mona, one of the owners of Caribou Bay, at a wedding event show in Stevens Point, we could not believe what she was telling us. The venue sounded too good to be true and then she added, "We don't do one day weddings. Our couples have the entire retreat for a full 4 days". She had already told us the cost, which I immediately thought was the cost per day, and then she said that was the cost for the full 4 days. This would not only be a place for the wedding ceremony, but it was also a retreat for the entire wedding party to enjoy as they prepared for the upcoming wedding, relaxed, and got to know each other. We made plans to visit Caribou Bay right away.
And Caribou Bay did not disappoint us. In fact, it absolutely exceeded our expectations! The grounds were so much more beautiful than we pictured, the lake, the chapel on the hill and the truly impressive retreat house. As we toured the grounds, we found so many "extras" like a log cabin for the bride to wait in while the wedding guests arrived, lots of garden areas, a swing hanging in the woods, and so much more. And the event hall truly has to be seen in order to realize just how gorgeous it is. The decorating was perfect and there had to be several thousand twinkle lights blanketing the ceiling of the hall. There is no way we could have ever decorated a wedding hall anywhere to look like this because anything we could have wanted was already there and set up for us. My daughter looked at me with tears in her eyes and said, "This is it, mom. It's perfect."
Over the next several months, we worked closely with Mona getting all the other details set up. Mona made it all so easy for us because she had lists of all the caterers in the area, the florists, bakers, DJs, beauticians, etc. She had truly covered everything. And yet booking our own DJ, using an outside baker, and adding a special ice cream vendor to the event were no problem. We were also able to purchase all of our own alcohol for the bar which saved a lot of money. Several times before the wedding we had to call or text Mona for help and she always responded right away, was very pleasant, and she was a joy to work with. Several times she told us, I don't want you to have to worry about anything.
When the wedding weekend finally arrived, the bridal party could not believe the retreat house and grounds they had for the next 4 days. Friendships were quickly made over cookouts, cocktails around the pool table, and hot tub get togethers. The time we had together like this before the wedding brought the entire bridal party close and allowed them to get to know each other which is not usually something you are able to do before a wedding. This time was priceless.
The wedding day finally came and chapel on the hill was ready to go. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and as the skies began to cloud up, a speedy decision had to be made and the wedding had to be moved inside. Mona and Jack jumped right in to move the wedding into the event hall where they had set up a chapel area to be used in the event of inclement weather. They even brought out umbrellas for the entire wedding party so that they were able to take some pictures outside. Of course my daughter was initially disappointed about the sudden venue change but once she saw all the lights in the hall lit up and her soon-to-be husband waiting at the alter, it was magical. She had her dream wedding and more.
Although my daughter had planned on wedding photos at the hillside chapel, the pictures that Gerry De L Teja took in the wedding hall accented by the twinkling lights overhead turned out more beautiful than they ever could have hoped for. De La Teja studio took a rainy wedding day and created some of the most spectacular photos using the umbrellas in the rain, on the deck over looking the lake and for the group photos walking in the rain.
Whenever you are planning an outdoor wedding, you always have to have a back up plan because you can't control Wisconsin's weather. Caribou Bay not only has the most beautiful outdoor venue you could want, it has a beautiful back plan as well.
We could not recommend Mona and Jack's Caribou Bay Retreat in Coloma, Wisconsin more strongly. You truly have to see this venue to believe it. I tell everyone about it.

Speechless are the only words we could think of when Caribou Bay comes into our minds. It turned our wedding day into a wedding get away with all our closest family and friends. The spectacular scenic views, and hospitality provided by caribou bay will forever hold a big highlight to our wedding. Best guidance I would give is to listen to Mona and Jack’s advise, incredible people and incredible venue.

I can't begin to put into word how greatful I am for Mona and Jack. They made our day do wonderful. Caribou Bay is perfect and beautiful. From the relaxing night Thursday with just my now husband and me. To Friday setting everything up and hanging out with a few of the bridal party. And then Saturday, our big day. The colors and the day was absolutely beautiful and perfect. Dinner and dancing was great. Mona and Jack showed up to make sure we had everything and then Sunday went over some finalizing with us.
The overall experience was amazing and I loved it all. My only complaint was the low lighting in the house. But for a relaxing time it works.

My son was married at Caribou Bay Retreat in October and the wedding was absolute magical! The beautiful landscape made such breathtaking pictures that can be relived over and over. Part of the reason the wedding was a success was the personal service that the owner Mona showed not only me but everyone that was in attendance. It was so much easier and stress free having her by our side. She helped us coordinate everything from vendors, setting up the venue to perfection, and she even set-up a popcorn cart for our guests and “manned” it by filling it when it was low. (By the way…she picked up the popcorn for us the day of the wedding because things got busy, and that gesture alone was way above expectations and so much appreciated)! If you want to work with someone who is extremely professional and makes you feel taken care of, I recommend Mona at the Caribou Bay Retreat. She will bring your dream wedding to life!

Our wedding at Caribou Bay in October 2021 was everything I ever could have imagined. Mona and Jack were so incredibly helpful and attentive to all of our needs! We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate our love. Caribou Bay will forever hold a place in our hearts. We loved that fact that we had the entire property and cabin for our wedding party to use...the wedding flies by as it is, so waking up the next of the wedding and seeing our dad's, my groom, and all the groomsmen fishing and enjoying themselves helped to keep me calm. It was truly a retreat and one that we will never forget!! Thank you!

Mona and her husband take pride in their work. They made our wedding day perfect and stress free. Mona did all the decorations for me which looked beautiful. The owners live on site and are there to answer questions at anytime.

This is the first and ONLY venue we looked at. For an all inclusive price, you get the entire property Thursday-Sunday and get to stay on site. Nothing beats that. Mona and Jack (property owners) were so responsive to any questions we had. Mona even let me use her personal property for the first look with my dad…. Back story, it was a DOWN POUR on our wedding day and my dad is visually impaired, so we needed an area that was very lit and provided enough space. Mona was generous enough to offer her back porch (with a clear overhead patio cover) for this special moment. Mona and Jack went ABOVE AND BEYOND for our wedding weekend. We are so lucky to have found Caribou Bay.

Mona and Jack were wonderful to work with! They answered all my questions in a short, reasonable response time and were very professional. With getting the venue for an entire weekend there was no rush setting up or taking down. I would highly recommend having Mona do your table arrangements! They were beautiful and it took a huge stress off our backs! Caribou Bay is an incredibly beautiful venue that we are still getting compliments about.

If you are planning a rustic romantic or Bohemian style wedding Caribou Bay is the place for you! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and all the amenities made it so simple and carefree to plan our special event. Jack and Mona were an absolute delight, as they added they're own special touches in decorating an officiating. They provided us with a local vendors list that helped everything fall right into place perfectly. Thank you Jack and Mona for a magical weekend and memories that will last a lifetime!

I do not have enough nice things to say about Mona, her Husband, and Caribou Bay. When my fiance and I initially started planning our wedding we went to look at a few venues but immediately knew this was the place for us for many reasons (the venue itself is gorgeous and the property/ceremony areas are beautiful and immaculately kept to name a couple) but booking with Mona turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made for another reason entirely . With our date only 6 months away we found ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic and having to make some big changes to the wedding. Mona has made an incredibly challenging time as easy as it could possibly be. She was ALWAYS available, accommodating, flexible, helpful, and above all incredibly caring when we came to her with concerns or changes to our initial plan. Words can not describe how grateful we are that we made Caribou Bay our choice and for the experience we have had with Mona as the venue owner. I have, and will continue to recommend booking Caribou Bay Retreat and Mona to anyone who will listen, it was the best choice we made since we decided to tie the knot in the first place :)
