About
The words of the Prophet Isaia: On this day in the land of Israel, and in the streets of Jerusalem: The sounds of joy and happiness, the voice of the groom and the voice of the bride will be heard.
Generally I perform a middle of the road type of service, meaning; more Hebrew prayers are read or sung.
I am open to possible requests to add some original readings or prayers or minor changes to the service itself as long as they do not alter the character and solemnity of the ritual.
My participation in the ceremony will benefit you by having a Rabbi and a Cantor in one person conducting the ceremony; it makes a tremendous difference.
I only officiate in purely Jewish tradition ceremony, However, I would consider officiating in some cases an interfaith ceremony provided that no other clergy will participate in the ceremony except Rabbis.
I will travel up to 30 miles radius from my residence in Englewood NJ, to within NJ, NY, and Connecticut.
About my background: I was born in Israel where I received my formal education in addition to engineering, Jewish studies and music. I spent 10 years in Italy to improve my singing techniques in the opera field. While in Italy I was a soloist/Cantor in the main Synagogue in Milan for 4 years. 40 years ago I came to the USA to become a cantor at the urging of the late Tenor Richard Tucker.
My first pulpit position was with Temple Sinai, in Tenafly, NJ a post I held for 10 years. My next position was with Temple Shalom in Aberdeen, NJ a post I held for 7 years. My last full time position as a Cantor was with Temple Beth Haverim in Mahwah, NJ a post I held for 5 years. Some short term free lancing cantorial positions followed. In total I served as a Cantor for some 35 years.
I have been certified as a Cantor by the Hebrew Union College, NYC campus 35 years ago and I am a member of the ACC, cantor’s association.
Throughout my years as a Cantor I have either co officiated or personally officiated in hundreds of wedding ceremonies. I continue currently to officiate in wedding ceremonies mostly by referrals from former congregants, and/or by word of mouth.
