Very disappointed bride

Very disappointed bride

Out of all elements of what was a beautiful wedding I had on October 10, 2025 our cakes were our biggest disappointment by far.

Delivery time of the cakes – Cakes were supposed to be delivered midafternoon on a Friday afternoon, but the cakes were not delivered until right before the reception was started and the cocktail hour was going on (Between 6 – 7 pm). Then to finish it off, Amy was putting on many of the decorations on the cake at the last minute and even had a a member of the Bentley carry the wedding cake up the stairs.

Size of the cakes – Both cakes were extremely small considering what we had ordered and how much we paid for these cakes. They looked so tiny compared to any wedding cakes I have ever seen. I ordered cake stands based on the size she told me the cakes would be and both stands were gigantic in relation to the size of the cakes. The wedding cake was supposed to serve 125 (not including the top tier) and the groom’s cake was to serve 35. That is 160 people, and we only had 80 guests attend the wedding. It’s a good thing they weren’t delicious cakes, because if they would have been, there would have not been enough cake to feed 80 people much less 160.

Taste of the cakes – The chocolate ganache was delicious but stood no chance since the cake layers were so terrible. The butter cake tasted like it was made of cornmeal. All of the cake layers were so dry and had a grainy texture. They tasted so bad that most guests took one bite and then threw the slice away.

Decorations on the cake – The wedding and groom’s cake were both completely wrong from what we had ordered and drawn. The wedding cake had almost all the decorations on it in white. The top tier was supposed to have red fleur de lis and gold dots. There was no red ribbon around the bottom of any of the layers and no red piping around the edge. All the red/black/gold colors on the cake were nonexistent.

The groom’s cake was completely wrong as well. The Mexican bingo cards were supposed to be screen printed onto the cake. The Mexican flags hanging looked so amateur in their design. We had asked for swirls, lines, and flowers as fillers in various colors, instead we got mostly little hearts. If my decorator wouldn’t have added the few silk flowers to the top it would have been very bare. The cake stand and flowers inside that my mom and I put together were the only things that saved that cake and whole table from being a complete embarrassment.

I would not recommend Amy for any cake especially a wedding cake. She is so difficult to deal with. She never answers the phone or text messages, is always running late, and never follows up with things. Even paying her was difficult because she wouldn’t send an invoice.

There are not many options in the Avoyelles and Rapides Parish areas for wedding cakes, but this was by far a terrible choice. Beware!
