I cannot recommend Blue Heron enough. The food is superb, and the staff are incredibly responsive, flexible and talented. Working with them is a wonderful wraparound experience: planning, menus, design and set up of venue floor plans, and advice on staying within budget. You will not be disappointed. I could not recommend Debbie and Blue Heron Catering more highly. She catered our wedding with a Thai inspired menu, and we heard from many guests that it was the best wedding meal that they had ever had. In addition to the food and day of service being excellent, Debbie was wonderful to work with throughout the planning and aftermath of the wedding. I found her very down to earth and a clear communicator, she was very flexible with all of our requests, she was incredibly helpful on things outside of her purview (she recommended our wine selection and coordinated the delivery so we didn't have to think about it), and she maintained a calm and collected demeanor throughout. Were I to need future catering in the Bay Area, Blue Heron would be my first call.

Tony and everyone on the Blue Heron Catering team took our wedding day to another level with their delicious food and cocktails, attention to detail, and great service! We tried two other caterers when looking for a vendor, and Chef Humberto’s food was far and away the most delicious. Combined with Tony’s enthusiasm for what he does and active listening to what we wanted / needed for the day, they were the clear winner.

Tony always got all our requests for menu, set up, and rentals correct even as we evolved our choices over time. He was also really flexible with us and presented different options that would help us achieve what we want and also be cost-effective. Catering is a big part of the wedding budget, so we REALLY appreciated this!

Our guests loved the food and drinks, and we are still getting compliments weeks after the event! We highly recommend Blue Heron Catering, and would love to find an excuse to work with them again on another event!

Blue Heron catered our wedding and so many guests told us it was the best wedding food they’d ever had. We had primarily Indian, Mexican, and Latin American food. It was all great. Especially the tamales. Amazingly, some of the food was actually even better at the wedding than at the tasting. They also did a great job catering to vegetarians and vegans.

Compared to other caterers we explored, we found that Blue Heron had more interesting food and a larger variety. They were also happy to do a bunch of different dishes on the buffet instead of just a few main ones. They were also quite reasonably priced. They didn’t have quite as many employees at the event as some other caterers quoted, which kept the cost down, but it didn’t cause any problems for service quality.

We got married at Chabot Space and Science Center, and Blue Heron was responsible for setting up all the furniture for the event in addition to catering food and tending the bar. They were clearly very experienced working at the venue and did a perfect job setting up the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception as well. They even figured out how to set up the chuppah for us.

Tony, Debbie, Humberto, and everyone else we interacted with was very helpful and organized. Tony even brought us (the bride and groom) a special plate of appetizers at cocktail hour to make sure we were well-fed. They also brought the groom a special extra large plate for dinner at his request :-)

Blue Heron Catering is fantastic to work with! Tony and Debbie were very communicative and kept in contact with my partner and I constantly. When we had to postpone our wedding in 2020 to 2021 (cough pandemic cough), Debbie contacted us and graciously agreed to the postponed date. Hands down the some of the best food that my partner and I have ever tasted. Chief Humberto knocked it out of the park! At the wedding the catering team was on it, Tony who the point of contact was so sweet and enthusiastic through out the process. If you are thinking about having Blue Heron cater your next event, please don’t hesitate. They are a fun and professional, and the food is amazing.

We used Blue Heron to cater our wedding this past March. We found them through our venue's preferred provider list, but we could not have been happier with the results.

The menu options we had to choose from for our tasting were varied, and they had plenty of options available for alternative diets. Jessica was a pleasure to work with and she really knows her stuff and is very organized. The food was excellent and we received many compliments on the food and service (the oyster bar was a big hit!).

One reason we selected Blue Heron is that they were up front with their pricing and didn't try to play the ridiculous "cat and mouse" game with the budget that many other caterers we requested quotes from seemed to play.

Catering a large event can be stressful and time-consuming, but Blue Heron was a pleasure to work with and extremely professional. We recommend them for any event.

Blue Heron was wonderful to work with for our wedding. The food was fantastic and there seemed to be a never ending supply of it. They were able to come up with a vegetarian menu that even made our avid meat eater guests happy. I highly recommend them.

They have the most amazing employees, they are extremely warm and personable, and then suddenly you feel like you are at home, in your mother's kitchen. Their Chef, Humberto's is incredible. His creations are so fresh, delicious, flavorful, and powerful. It is like that moment in the movie "Ratatouille" when the cynical inspector tries Remy's (the rat) cooking for the first time and it brings him back to his long term memories in his hometown province. They can create anything but for us, we loved the home cooked meal feeling, except theirs is obviously a thousand times better! In addition, my fiancé and I loved Elizabeth. Elizabeth is extremely well oriented, logistically talented, thorough and understood my needs, even well before I knew exactly what I needed. She is extremely experienced with weddings and will enhance your day with her recommendations and insights. She is a jack of all traits. There were aspects about my wedding day and orchestrating dining which I was unsure of or did not foresee and Elizabeth was on it. She was resourceful, full of alternative options, creative with planning, and her suggestions really made sense. She is a very logical person but shares a wonderful vision of your day.

Nickie and the rest of the Blue Heron team were very helpful, from our initial tasting through setting up before and cleaning up after the reception. They were great with planning help, and took care of all of the details of renting linens, dishware, etc. I initially chose them because of their high "green" ratings, but they were great in other areas as well.
