Mike did an amazing job with mine and my wife's wedding photos last summer! 🏳️‍🌈🥂💖 We had a small ceremony at a park and Mike was absolutely wonderful. He blended right in and was able to get a bunch of great photos of us and our families, including candids and thoughtfully curated shots. Mike even stayed longer than planned and got several shots of the reception after the ceremony. About a week after the wedding he sent us a preview link with several shots for us to review, and we received the rest a couple of months later. We are very satisfied with our experience with Aspen and Cedar and we recommend them to anyone looking for low-key and beautiful photos!

Their kindness, flexibility, and eye for special moments was apparent. Our “day after shoot“ with Mike was fabulous. Although delayed twice by weather (of which Mike was communicative, thoughtful, and understanding) the day itself was lovely. Mike took time to let us be us, while offering ideas for phenomenal photographs in the North Cascades. There are so many photos I love from both our wedding day and “day after”. Photos of family and friends that we will cherish and show to our grandkids. We couldn’t be happier with our experience. They would be amazing elopement photographers out in nature during these strange times!!

Mike and Jill photographed our wedding in September 2019. We planned our wedding from across the country and they were more than accommodating for us, meeting over Zoom and through email to arrange everything. They perfectly captured our day, got all the photos we asked for and more leaving us with about 2,000 photos to look back at.

I think it's hard to find good photographers. Not only do they need to have good photography fundamentals, they also need to align with the couple's preferences in artistic style. Artistic style is so subjective because it can be driven by subject positioning, color palettes, fluid or static movements, etc. We weren't sure what to expect when we found Aspen & Cedar, just that we knew that their style wasn't one of your standard JC Penny Christmas studio photos. It was moment-focused, story-focused, all in the backdrop of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We couldn't have asked for anything better, both our engagement & wedding packages came out so beautifully that 6 months later we still haven't figured out what photos to print on our wall. We thank them for capturing the best of us, during the most beautiful time.

Mike and Jill were excellent to work with from the very start. My fiance and I were traveling to Washington from Chicago and knew we wanted to have our engagement photos at a National Park. We fell in love with the natural and journalistic style of Mike and Jill's photos, and knew that they would be a great fit for us! Mike and Jill were full of knowledge, flexibility, and guidance as we determined which areas to have our photos done at! They were always very responsive, and made our time with them an experience and adventure! We are thrilled with our beautiful collection of engagement photos, as they truly captured our relationship in an exquisite and raw way. You can tell just by looking at our photos how comfortable we felt during the session, and the attention to detail Mike and Jill put into capturing the perfect images. We highly recommend working with them!

Mike & Jill have such a neat northwest style in all of their photos. I like how it’s a little darker/moodier but doesn’t feel gloomy at all. I was especially excited to have two shooters at my wedding and thought they were very affordable for how great their portfolio is. They are such nice people - I felt like we got along instantly and the whole process of working with them was quite effortless. I liked being able to get comfortable with Mike at our engagement session and then not having to worry one little bit about photography on the wedding day. They even helped with a bit of the set-up chores (which was such a thoughtful gesture). On the Day Of they were such sleuths - I barely noticed them and yet they got all the pictures I was hoping for. They were easy to work with and delivered a lot of really excellent photos. Having had them at our wedding and spending so much time with them, I feel like they’re part of our extended family now.

My fiancé and I knew we wanted to do our engagement photos in the mountains but didn't know exactly where we wanted to go. Mike was extremely helpful from the beginning and gave us multiple suggestions of locations in the Cascade Mountains. We had never been to any of the locations before, so our engagement shoot became quite the adventure. It was a day that we will always cherish and remember forever. Mike could not have done a better job at capturing our love and the beautiful scenery around us. Would highly recommend to any couple, not only for the incredible photos, but for the experience as well!!

My husband and I couldn't be happier with the portraits we took with Mike. Neither one of us are big "picture" people and most of the ones we have of ourselves are pretty goofy, so we came into this expecting to feel a little awkward about the whole thing. Mike was great at making us feel at ease and a lot more relaxed about it, which translated into some seriously wonderful shots. He responded to our emails quickly, and we were able to book with him just as soon. He was even flexible enough to give us a choice of two different dates, depending on which one was slated to have the better weather. Awesome attention to detail, an excellent eye for composition, and sent out our finished photos in a timely manner.
We're so grateful to Mike for capturing images that made me cry when we saw the gallery! He made it such a fun and easy afternoon. Can't recommend highly enough.

Highly recommend! I first learned about Mike hitchner from my sister when she had him photographed her wedding. He is such a great guy, easy going, fast at responding and an absolutely amazing photographer, so of course we had to have him photograph our wedding. My favorite part is all the candid moments that were captured, every time I look through my photos I can relive those moments. Highly satisfied and we will definitely be using them again in the near future. Keep up the amazing work!

We feel so lucky that we found Aspen & Cedar for our wedding, we could not be happier with our photos and they were so fun to spend the day with. We had some adventurous, outdoor ideas and they really embraced it with us and helped us plan well.
