The Villa Antica Fattoria di Paterno – breathtaking venue, but a heartbreaking experience due to the manager
The Villa Antica Fattoria di Paterno is undeniably beautiful. The grounds are stunning, full of atmosphere and character, with plenty of space for guests to wander — you never feel confined to one area. It truly looks like something out of a dream.
Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by the villa’s manager, Ciara, whose behavior caused immense stress on what was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives. While pricing details were communicated in advance and included in the contract, the way these matters were handled on the wedding day itself was deeply unprofessional and inappropriate.
Despite having prior discussions and understandings regarding logistics and use of the space, an issue was raised on the day of the wedding, just one hour before the ceremony, and escalated aggressively. We arrived at the venue five hours early to prepare and had already seen the manager on site. However, instead of addressing any concerns calmly or earlier in the day, she confronted my fiancé shortly before the ceremony, demanding immediate payment and creating significant distress.
Even more upsetting, approximately thirty minutes before I was due to walk down the aisle, she insisted on entering my room despite my wedding planner trying to intervene, raising her voice, demanding payment on the spot, and threatening that the event would be disrupted if the issue was not resolved immediately. This confrontation occurred while guests were already present and preparations were underway.
To avoid chaos and protect our guests and the ceremony itself, I felt forced to resolve the situation at that moment, despite the timing being entirely inappropriate. The manner in which this was handled — including shouting, pressure, and threats — was completely unacceptable in a professional wedding setting.
Sadly, the issues did not end there. Later in the evening, when our host experienced Wi-Fi problems during speeches, no one from management was available. Multiple calls went unanswered. When the manager was eventually located, her response was dismissive and cold, and she refused to coordinate with our wedding planner, claiming she did not know who they were — despite having worked alongside them throughout the planning process.
The following morning, the owner of the villa personally came to see us, apologized, helped with our luggage, and offered us wine. This gesture was kind, appreciated, and showed genuine care — and it made it clear that the issues we experienced were not reflective of the villa itself, but of how the event was managed.
The location is truly perfection — a Tuscan dream in every sense. However, I sincerely believe that the villa deserves management who can match its beauty with professionalism, empathy, and respect. No couple should be confronted, threatened, or emotionally distressed on their wedding day. While the villa itself is extraordinary, the management experience turned what should have been a magical day into one marked by unnecessary stress and heartbreak.
