Another Man’s Treasure isn’t a bridal store by any means, but the unique and intrepid bride can find a lot of inspiration here—and maybe her dress! The vintage store on Grove Street in Jersey City is always stocked with wonderful shoes, lingerie, accessories, and bridesmaid-type formal dresses from decades past. It’s a blast to shop there and experience the carefully curated selection; the owners are also super sweet and very helpful!
AMT also operate a more high-end, appointment-only showroom, with more delicate items—I couldn’t believe when the first stop on my dress search connected me with my perfect, real vintage Edwardian wedding gown! Gauzy and summery with exquisite detailing, it was in great condition and priced well (especially in comparison to new dresses). When I visited, they had about 8-10 white dresses from various eras in various sizes. Since it’s vintage, each piece is unique and it may be hard to find your type of dress in your style, and you should keep in mind the fact that you may have to put further money and effort into the dress for either cleaning or tailoring. All this aside, the options at AMT are beautiful and certainly worth a look if you’re seeking an alternative to the typical bridal look. A lot of the other gowns and dresses they carry are also so wonderful they’re worth breaking the long-white-dress tradition…
