Unreliable, unprofessional
I am a strong supporter of local businesses. In return, I would expect that the local business would support me. Alice Bakery did not.
I ordered a large custom decorated cake to serve approx. 50 people for an affair on the last Saturday before Christmas. This cake was to be the centerpiece of the affair. I arrived at the bakery to pick up the cake at the pre determined time. After frantically searching for the cake and not finding it, the girl at the counter called the owner. She then reported to me that the owner informed her that the decorator had called out sick and therefore the cake did not get made. As my panic began to set in, I asked her what was I supposed to do, I had 50 people arriving for a party in 2 hours! All she did was flatly apologize. A professional business would have somehow tried to remedy the situation. I understand life happens and plans can go awry, but this was a big party weekend! Did they really not have a back up plan? At least call me and inform me instead of waiting for me to pick up the cake that was never made? What about trying to somehow rectify the situation?! No offer of assistance was presented. So off to Wegmans I ran and ended up with a generic sheet cake instead of my centerpiece custom decorated cake.
From now on, I stick with BREDENBECK’S in Chestnut Hill. They have never let me down.
