I used this vendor for my tent, table and chair rentals. They were affordable, responsive and great to work with on my wedding.

Poor Customer Service
We had them replace an existing awning and everything went well for a couple years. We pay them to put up the awning at the beginning of the season and take it down at the end of the season. We cannot seem to get them to put up or take down the awning in a timely manner. The owner Linda Gross told me that they cannot possibly give me a timeframe for when my awning will be put up, because she has 500 awnings she is storing and putting up for people this year. I understand it being put up a little late, but you really can't give me a timeframe (like 2nd week in April etc)? She was extremely rude on the phone when I called to check on when they would be putting up the awing and told me they never provide a timeframe, they'll get to us when the get to us and if I don't like it go elsewhere. I really wish I had known this before paying them thousands of dollars to replace my awning! Needless to say I cannot recommend them to anyone.

Complete lack of communication
TL/DR - Absolutely terribly run business with a complete lack of communication, with a decent product.
Where to start with this...
I'll start with the positive, since that will take FAR less time. The tent that eventually arrived (more on that later) was as ordered. The correct size and the requested sidewalls (though 2 of 4 window walls seem to be a foot longer than the others
Not the most aestnetically pleasing but still served their purpose). It was a bit dirty and had some small tears but that's pretty much to be expected with a rental. They were also a good bit less expensive than most of their competitors but lesson learned - next time I'll pay a bit more for better service.
Then there's the negatives. Their slogan is "We're IN-TENTS about good service" and my friend and I literally laughed out loud when we saw that because this has to be the most poorly run company I've ever dealt with.
Its important to note that the Google review score is a bit misleading (and has fallen since I booked in Augus, unsurprisingly). This is actually 2 separate entities operating under 1 name with apparently completely separate ownership. The awning division is owned by someone other than Nicole and Eric Voye who bought the tent divison roughly 2 years ago. After already putting down the deposit I did a deeper dive of the reviews and realized the decline since they took ownership.
After making the difficult decision to cancel our originally planned wedding and move it to our backyard, I started reaching out to book a tent. I called a handful of compamies, including Affordable Tent and Awnings on July 29 & 30. It was convenient that this particular company allows online booking (I suppose we can put a checkmark in the good column there) and their prices were much less than competitors for a comparable product, so oon the 30th of August, I made the reservation online. I received a confirmation email with instructions on how to put down a deposit. I called the following day (Friday/31) to put the deposit down and left a message.
I hadn't heard back on Monday August 3 and I wanted to make sure I got the deposit placed within the stated time frame so as not to have my reservation cancelled so I called again and was able to reach Nicole and placed the deposit.
A couple days later I realized I needed a larger tent than initially requested, so on August 5 I began reaching out, alternating between phone and email. While their rather rambling outgoing voice-mail message states they'll return calls in 24 hours, my call wasn't returned -in fact, when reviewed my call logs to write this review and ensure accuracy, I see I was only ONCE called and that was 2 days prior to our wedding. I did get an email on the 6th that said simply "hi Niky". I waited a few minutes assuming she'd mistakenly hit send before completing the message and figured more was forthcoming. When no more came through, I responded asking if she'd meant to say more and she said she'd call me tomorrow. She didn't. I finally reached Nicole on August 17, she confirmed that the larger size was available and that she'd update my order and send an updated invoice later that day.
On August 25 we still hadn't received an updated invoice. At this point Im seeing a pattern of not following through and begining to lose confidence in their management. I should have cancelled at that point- the red flags were already waving but I didnt. I left a voicemail indicating I was considering canceling my booking, reporting the deposit charges as fraud and going elsewhere if no one could bother to return a call. Finally that evening we get ahold of them and get the updated invoice and Nicole gives me her cell phone, saying its sometimes easier to reach her that way. She also says they'll call a week prior to confirm a delivery & setup time for Friday October 16. I appreciate that and expected all would be good from then on (spoiler alert - it wasn't).
On September 16 I shot a text asking if she knows the dimensions of the apex of the roof as I am trying to order draping to decorate for the wedding. I get a return text on September 20 saying she'd call me tomorrow....I never did get that call.
That call to confirm a setup time a week prior never came, so I text Nicole to inquire at 9am on Tuesday October 13. She quickly responds saying she'll confirm with the crew when they get back in. I found it a little odd that she needed to check with the crew - that she as owner/manager didn't have the ability to say "We have x number of jobs scheduled and we anticipate yours being at roughly X-time" but ok, whatever. I'd already concluded that she's not very adept at managing a business so it wasn't particularly surprising. 8pm rolls around and I've STILL not gotten a response and I follow up. 45 minutes later I get a text saying we would be the first job of the day Friday, so expect them around 10am.
I had already ran out of patience and confidence and contacted another company earlier in the day to see what the shortest notice they needed to book and if the size I needed was available. I was basically anticipating needing to scramble for a plan B when they'd be a no show the day of (I regret having not gone with the other company- Eventioneers - in the first place). I said I need a call, communication has been thoroughly lacking and I'm not at all confident that they're even going to show up. So she calls and I have her on speaker phone so that my (now) husband could be part of the conversation. She says its been "so crazy" and she's sorry for not communicating but assured us that we'd be the first stop Friday, we could anticipate them around 10. My husband said something along the lines of "if there's not a tent in my yard by noon Friday, I'm gonna lose my mind".
On Thursday afternoon I get a message saying they'd like to possibly come install today, would that work? I think- and say - absolutely. All of my other vendors had already confirmed everything and I felt confident with them, this tent remained the variable that had me on edge so if it were here a day early I'd be thrilled and could begin to relax and get excited about my wedding. In a 20 minute span it went from they'd possibly be here around 4 that day, to they'll definitely be here by 3, to JK we'll be there tomorrow "right around 10am". Alrighty then...
Now I will again admit that I'm on edge and at 10:02 when they're not here I'm preparing myself for a headache.
At 10:36am I text Nicole asking if she has an ETA.
At 10:58 I call her cellphone - no answer.
At 11:01 I call the office and select the tent extension- no answer.
At 11:08 I call the awning division who interestingly enough ALWAYS answers the phone. I asked to speak to the owner and she explains the tent and awning divisions are separately owned BUT she heard people in the garage and says she'll go check. She returns and says they are loading up for my job now.
The office is about 30 minutes from my home, so I give it about that long until I try again.
At 11:50, no one is here and I've gotten ZER0 communication from Nicole. I try her cell again and leave a vm, saying its nearly noon, no one is here and I wish I could say I'm surprised but I'm not.
I call again at noon (yes, at this point I am livid, not just at the fact that no one has shown up yet but at the fact I cant even get ahold of someone other than the poor awning lady) and Nicole finally answers. I did get a chuckle out of her answering the phone "Affordable Tent Rentals" as though she didn't recognize my number at this point. I ask what is going on, when is someone gonna be here. She umms and stammers out something about how the crew is "in my area" but they had to stop and finish another job they didn't get done yesterday but she'd call Eric (her husband & co-owner) and get right back to me.
At 12:17 get a text about how the crew didnt answer but they should be here soon. I'm irate at this point, and I call her making the following points
- Why if I was no longer the first stop of the day was that not communicated?
- Why did I not hear from ANYONE until 2 hours after the expected delivery time, and even then why did I have to call them instead of them reaching out to me?
- why was the crew still loading my job after 11 if they were to be here at 10, and if they supposedly had to finish another job "in my general area" (she refused to even name a street when asked so I could estimate their travel time). She insists they weren't still there at that time so someone lied there.
I asked for Erics number- she wouldn't give it to me.
Finally they showed up at around 12:35. I was angry and now behind schedule for setting up so honestly forgot about the check sitting on my table, and they never asked for it. I got a call just after 4 but was in the middle of setting up for our wedding so didn't answer. I got a text saying she wanted to "make the lack of communication right at least financially". I thought ok, I'll give them a call Monday to discuss, will ask for an updated invoice and will send out a check upon receipt. I got the impression she realized they'd dropped a ball and were going to, as she said "make it right".
Monday morning I check my credit card statement and find that on the 16th - the same day as setup and her texts-they charged the remaining balance. In fact they charged more than the remaining balance from the last invoice I received as she'd charged the wrong sidewalls previously.
So I reached out, explained that I was surprised to see my card charged after her text on Friday and was told she doesn't know why I didn't give them a check, payment is due on install and that my attitude is uncalled for and unappreciated - while I admittedly have had an attitude in our most recent correspondence, I feel it is VERY justified. She seems to feel the way she handled the situation is appropriate and is completely unapologetic for adding entirely unnecessary stress to an already stressful situation. The charge to my card was not authorized and I considered reporting it as such but at this point, I'm just done with them. My wedding was beautiful despite the headache they caused.
I requested that they please call prior to entering our fence when picking it up so we could be sure that our dog was not outside and could not escape the yard. It comes as absoluty no surprise that we weren't called and were only alerted to their arrival by our dog barking out the window at them in the yard. Fortunately he wasnt outside then.
Under no circumstances would I ever recommend this company.
