My fiance and I have always wanted to have our wedding reception in a hotel. We live in Philadelphia, and after searching around at the many beautiful hotels in downtown Philadelphia, we realized that they were way out of our price range. We were referred to the Holiday Inn Fort Washington by some friends who had their wedding there. The ballroom where our recetion was held was very nice and well within our budget. They also offered a discounted room rate for our guest to stay the night. During our planning process they were very flexible with us. We decided to make our own centerpieces and they reimbursed us for the cost of them, which I thought was awesome! However, throughout the planning process, we were always the ones contacting them instead of them contacting us. At 3 months to go, I had to call to set up our food tasting. At our food tasting, we were told that they had lost our contract and needed our copy to make another copy. Very unprofessional. Also, they had our reception booked in another room, NOT the one we had original wanted. No Worries though! Our original contract had us in the main ballroom so they had to make sure we were in there. At 1 month to go, I had to call and confirm everything and even then still felt a little uneasy about my details. The day of the wedding, everything went very well. The food was delicious and the room was set up just as we wanted. 2 main issues: they forgot to give the DJ, Photographer, and his assistant their dinner. We paid for them to eat and they will be reimbursing us for them. Also, we made bathroom baskets that were never placed in the bathrooms and when I asked for them back they said they couldn't find them. They cost about $100 to put together and that really upset me.
Over all...good for the value but you will have to be a very organized bride. You will not get that warm and fuzzy feeling like everything will go great unless you make sure you telll them exactly what you want over and over.
When I first decided that I wanted orchids as my wedding day flowers I thought that I would spend a fortune! After meeting the ladies at garden parties I realized I was wrong!!! I had 8 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, flower girl, ring bearer, parents & grandparents corsages, and my bouquet. ALL ORCHIDS and under $900! I was super excited! The day of the wedding they showed up on time and everything I orderd looked amazing! I was very happy with my choice in florist!
We went with the New Yorker style wedding cake with light blue ribbon. It looked amazing and tasted absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend Bredenbeck's! They also have a ton of other types of cakes, cookies, and cupcakes!
We booked Dan Breslin for our wedding reception. He set up on time and played great music! He kept the night flowing smoothly (parents dances and cake cutting) without being pushy. Our dance floor was packed the entire night and everyone had a great time. Thanks Dan!!!
We had a wonderful experience with Steven Singer! My hunsband had bought my engagement ring there (which was absolutely beautiful!) so we decided to also get our wedding bands there. They are very polite and greet you as soon as you walk through the door, asking if you would like something to drink, beer, scoth, water, or a fresh homemade cookie! They were very attentive and listened to exactly what we wanted and showed us those rings. They are not pushy at all and don't try and get you to buy something you don't want. We were very happy with our choice in rings!
