Wedding on Carnival Cruise Ship

Nicole, on November 22, 2011 at 7:44 AM Posted in Planning 0 24

Hello WeddingWire Family, I wanted to break the news to my wedding date twins myself )-: unfortunately we had to change our wedding date from Sep 22nd 2012 to Aug 31st 2012. With me being a travel agent I booked my Family our Family Cruise during Labor day weekend and with all my family will be on the ship at that time we said...hmmmmm why not just get married on the ship! Very cost efficient!! Even though I was really looking forward to having my pastor marry us but he said he would give us his blessing in whatever decision we came up with.

Now with that being said has anyone ever got married on Carnival Cruise Ship? It defiantly sound good!

I didnt, but I went on a carnival cruise for my bachelorette party and there were 3 couples that I met that got married on the cruise. They loved it!! That was our original plan but we changed our minds.

I've seen many weddings onboard, and everyone seem pleased, I have also seen the private rooms where the wedding and reception is held and they looked gorgeous.

I went to wedding for a friend of mine on a Carnival Cruise in Miami this past summer. The wedding was nice along with the food. But some of the things that my friend (the bride) said she didn't like was that she didn't get to have things that reflected who they were as a couple and that she missed out on being able to pick her linens, colors, decorations, flowers etc. She likened it to having a wedding already made and you just drop different brides into it, instead of the wedding being produced around them and what they want. I thought it was nice but she seemed to have some regrets about it. I guess just ask lots of question and make sure you get what you want!! Congrats!

We actually tossed around the idea of a cruise too!! I loved the idea, but we felt like it was too much of an expense for our guests....not only for the actual trip, but we would be forcing them o take off however many days from work depending on the length of the cruise....in a perfect world though, I would have loved too! We are going on one for our honeymoon instead :-)

We thought about it long and hard because we are paying for our kids to join us and it just made sense for the cost, but we did a trial cruise for spring break last year and FH hated it. He was sick almost from the start and the only time he really enjoyed himself was on shore. At least we found out ahead of time.

My friend wanted to get married on a cruise, but was told by the cruise lines that they do not marry couples while out at sea. She either had to be married off the cruise ship before boarding or as soon as she got on the cruise ship before it left. I think it would be nice, but just passing along that info. Don't really know if it's accurate though! Smiley smile

Only been on carnival once and it was horrible

but I have been on several Royal carribean trips, and had a blast, and a few them we saw people getting married on it. It was pretty cool, and my family and I sorta tossed the idea around when I first got engaged but I won't be going with that. Cruises are fun, and weddings on them can be really nice too.

I am getting married on a 4 hour dinner cruise out of Seattle Washington Smiley laugh THey have great reviews and it includes everything but the flowers, cake, photographer and of course our dress/tux. We are paying 6,000 for 28 people which leaves at 6pm and includes a 4star buffet dinner, cake cutting service, open bar including champagne ( we wanted our guests to have the best), dj, captains ceremony, rental of a private room for the 4 hours.

Several couples I know have done a cruise wedding, whether it was a cruise leaving from NYC for the Caribbean or a cruise aroud NYC. I was advised, by a ship captain who was a guest at one of my landlocked weddings, that the safest thing to do is to exchange private vows on the dock (where the location can be easily documented for license purposes) and then do the 'big' ceremony on the cruise. I love the idea.

@Jaclyn: I think Carnival can sometimes not be the best experience because since it is a family cruise lines there are kids EVERYWHERE! I have been on 2 carnival cruises and have always enjoyed myself, however, I would say that a lot of the parents treat the cruise ship itself as a built in baby sitter. I would love the idea of a cruise wedding if my FH would have gone for it!
