TOO OLD TO BE A FLOWERGIRL OR RING BEARER

MrsBuildaBear, on March 26, 2015 at 12:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

I don't really have any small children that I can use as a flower girl or ring bearer. However, I do have two children who will be 10 years old when I have my wedding. Do you think that it is ok to have a Jr. Bridesmaid and Jr. Groomsman instead of the traditional flower girl and ring bearer? Both children are growing fast and will definitely be too tall. My thought is to have the Jr. Groomsman carry the "here comes the bride" sign and then have my Jr. Bridesmaid walk out in front of me with a smaller bouquet. I thought of having her throw the rose petals but that may be awkward. What are your thoughts?

I think that would be nice, my oldest niece is 9 and is going to be a flower girl with her sisters. i did consider making her a jr bridesmaid for a little but decided it would cause sibling rivalry if only she got to be one and not the middle sister.

I have a 13 y/o BM jr..she will be 14 when we get married, and a 9 y/r jr GM with 2 younger FG. We chose to have my nephew as a jr. instead of a ring bearer because he is strangely tall and would look better next to the jr. BM.

It's your wedding, do whatever makes you the happiest.

Thank you ladies.... I really want to have them in the wedding but, they will be too tall to be a flower girl and ring bearer.

Mine is a dog; no one is too old or tall (or hairy)... I'd ask the ten year olds what they'd prefer to be in the wedding.

Our flower girls are 6 and 8. Ring bearers are 12. And I don't care.

My Flower girls are 9 and 6. They are sisters and the oldest is 12. She will be a junior bridesmaid. FH and I don't know any young boys so we are not having a ring bearer. I like it this way. One less thing to worry about (finding an outfit for the ring bearer.) and the flower girls are old enough that I can have them do cute things. I am thinking one will throw petals and the other will carry a sign.... .havent fully decided yet.

My flower girl is 21. She is the youngest female cousin and was quite upset she never got to be one before. I've even seen Grandmothers as flower girls Smiley smile

I think it's a great way to include them in the wedding. My godson who is also my nephew is 17 and he will be our ring bearer, he wont' be carrying the rings on a pillow though LOL

Nobody is ever too old to be a flower girl or ring bearer. My flower girl is 43 years old and one of my best friends... yep she gets a basket and throw petals.

I don't have a flower girl due to lack of girls in my family, so I'm having my two oldest nephews [will be 9 and 6) carry a 'here comes the bride' sign, and third nephew is RB [4 yrs] and my youngest will be too little to be involved. If he can walk by then he might walk with his brother for RB.
