Male bridesmaid (man of honor)

swimfan93, on January 26, 2015 at 7:29 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Does anyone else have a guy in their bridal party? I'm trying to figure out what he should wear. I know he'll have a bouquet like the other bridesmaids, but obviously he's not going to wear a dress. I don't have the bridesmaids dresses picked out yet, but they'll probably be a dark purple for my October 2015 wedding. Any ideas? Maybe a purple shirt under his suit?

My best friend who was my best friend for 25 years passed away last year, He will have a "Honorary spot next to me". If he was still here he would be wearing the same color shirt/ or tie as the bridesmaids..

Hmmmmm. I dunno! I'm having groomsmaids, but that's a different challenge. I would say maybe make them more matchy matchy than the groomsmen would be? Maybe purple shirt with another shade of purple vest/tie?

In the wedding we last photographed, the bride had a man of honor. The difference was that he wore a bow tie, while the groomsmen wore ties, and he did not wear a boutonniere, while the groomsmen did. He didn't carry a bouquet, he actually carried a picture of someone who had passed, but you could tell he was on the bride's side.

Here are pictures, the first shows everyone, the second shows the girls side, and the third shows the guy's side. They were doing a prayer at that moment so that's why some of their heads are down, but it was one of the best ways to show you how they did this.

My brother is the brides best man (I don't have a MOH) and he is wearing a beige tux to match the bridesmaids champagne dresses and all the GM are in black Smiley smile

I've had a lot of men/women on untraditional sides. The guys usually wear a suit that matches the guys with a short that matches the girls.

I'd give him a bout though; I've never seen a guy carry a bouquet.

I had my three brothers as bridesmen. They had different boutonnieres than the groomsmen and groom. They wore the same suite and tie as the groomsmen but a colored vest to match the tie/bridesmaid dresses, whereas the groomsmen's vests just matched their suit. I would never make them carry bouquets, that seems a little emasculating IMHO. The bridesmen are the three on the left in the first picture. They were the ones who escorted my MOH and 2 bridesmaids in while the best man (pictured) and 5 groomsmen walked individually down the aisle. I included these pictures so you can see the difference in vest and boutonnieres. Good luck!

I would probably just have him match the groomsman, but stand on your side.

I think the different colored shirt would be a great way to make him stand out.
