Chinese made dress on Etsy?

SRhodes, on April 22, 2014 at 3:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

Hi!

I'm new to Wedding Wire. Mostly signed up for the forums. My boyfriend is proposing soon, and we decided (I think... my sister apparently has also decided..) on a spring wedding. I know it's a year away BUT I want to start planning early. Obviously I have heard/read terrible reviews on the chinese websites for dresses - I am not looking at those in particular. I found a lady on Etsy, and her lace dresses are exactly what I am looking for at the moment. And they're only $300 bucks out of my pocket.

This is her link on Etsy -

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LaceMarry

Thoughts anyone?

I appreciate any input.

Those dresses are very very pretty. She has good reviews. If you can afford to get another dress just in case this one does does not turn out good I say go for. I have not seen anything bad about the Etsy dress sellers.

I considered doing that too - and since our weddings are at least a year away (and you don't plan on any major weight loss/gain) you have time to look for something else if it doesn't turn out - or get it locally altered.

I say go for it if it's what you want and the reviews are good.

I say if you have have enough time to shop after getting the one you ordered if it doesn't turn out right then why not.

Sometimes vendors and shops can withold the negative reviews. Even if they are all good reviews doesn't mean every opinion was voiced. I'd be careful and take the chance if you're willing to lose the 300 JUST in case it might not turn out. I've heard some pretty bad stories even about etsy shops.

Shoddy places are trying to find easier ways to lure an unsuspecting bride/customer and one of the ways is by creating multiple similar shops under different names but all with the same dresses and it being a total sham.

Hopefully if you go that route, it works out. There are definitely successes along with the unsuccessfuls.

Ashley, did you find many shops you were interested in?

I'm going to go to Low's I think just to play dress up and make sure it's the style I want.

I used an Etsy Shop Misdress and my dress is amazing quality and exactly how it should look. I would recommend her to anyone! I also know that is was risky, but if you have time, and can afford buying something else if your dress shop doesn't work out, then go for it.

My only complaint about Misdress is that it did take about 2 weeks longer than quoted.

I would be super afraid to buy a gown I never tried on.

I had a really bad experience ordering a dress from a seller in China on etsy who had great reviews. Gratefully, I just finally got my money back since I made a claim with paypal and went through a HUGE hassle with the seller trying to return the dress. I felt silly after the whole situation because I didn't realize most sellers just post pics of designer dresses, and say they can replicate it for you. I was naive and thought I was actually looking at their work. My dress looked nothing like the pic, and was huge even though I sent my exact measurements. I know some people have had good experiences so I'm not discrediting those--I'd just be very careful...some "deals" are too good to be true.

I had my dress custom made to my measurements by Carabridal on Etsy (Shannon H. may be referring to me) and I do not regret it at all. She is best at doing lace dresses.

I didn't buy my gown on etsy. I find that website to be a bit pricey. after searching for dresses, I knew I most def wanted a mermaid style gown and searched on ebay. I know my body VERY well and know what flatters me and what doesn't. I ordered a gown that was $126 and $20 to ship. The dress maker was in Shaghai China, so you can imagine my nerves. After reading COUNTLESS negative reviews and very few positive reviews, I took my chances and thought that if it came back hideous, id only be out 150 bucks and if it was what id hoped, then even better. WELL, let me tell you.... IT WAS PERFECT. I loved my dress. EXACTLY as pictured. Since I am very thin, it needed some alterations but very little and to add the bustle. I am truly in love w my dress and very glad I took a chance !

I took the risk on a dress and slip from china and I am very pleased with both. If you can afford it and willing to take the risk I say go for it. 300 is not bad at all

I ordered mine from amazon but it came from China. It arrived today and I was shocked by how amazing this dress is. It fits like a glove and appears to be well made. I love my dress.

I bought my dress from China and love it - it's beautifully made and the fabric is lovely. I couldn't have asked for more.

I just ordered from Aegean on Etsy. She has great reviews and I contacted some of the people who left reviews and they raved about her and send photos of their dresses. We will see!
