Pastries by Carla was highly recommended to us by several people in the Branson area & we were not disappointed--far from it! The wedding cake was just like the bride wanted in taste & style--delicious & beautiful! It was the focal point of the reception, which was a small, family affair. The groom's cake was beyond what we wanted--it was so clever & just perfect for a duck hunter, plus deliciously chocolate! (The alligator was such a fun surprise for this Louisiana groom!)

Working with Carla was easy. After the initial meeting, I felt like we were in good hands, which was reassuring to me since I live 200 miles away from her & the bride lives 500 miles away. She was very helpful & kind, in person & on the phone.

Carla from Pastries By Carla did an excellent job on our wedding cake and pastires. I gave Carla a few simple ideas during our meeting and she made a better design then I had imagined. She really put a personal touch on the 4 layer cake and it tasted amazing... I would certainly recommend the butter cream frosting white cake with raspberry filling. Ask about the swedish flop, it is amazing. Carla is the sweetest person and highly recommend this vendor for your wedding cake needs!

And for all you bridezillas out there (and yes that means you Kimberly, crazy bride more focused on the baker than your soon to be husband)... Don't sweat the small stuff. Enjoy yourself because it goes by so fast..>!!

Carla did an excellent job with our wedding cake. It was reasonably priced and the taste was delicious!!!! She also delivered to the reception the day of wedding and set cake up beautifully!

This vendor is a disaster!
After calling and leaving a message for my initial contact I received no return phone call. Worried that I had not left a return phone number, I called back and spoke to vendor a few days later around 10am.

At noon that very same day, vendor called me again, initiating the call as if she had never spoken to me before. "Yes, this is Carla with Pastries by Carla, I am returning your call about your interest in Wedding Cake". I had to tell her that she had just spoken to me 2 hours prior and that I had all the details.

I gave her the benefit of the doubt on that, considering I know what it's like to be a busy professional....

BUT.... HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!
Here is a list of ALL that went wrong:
1) One week before my wedding I called to make sure all was in line. She had all of my cake flavors WRONG!

2) Wedding day arrives and she had not picked up my cake topper from the ceremony location, which she and florist agreed upon doing. It was 2pm, reception began at 5:30 pm.

3) Ceremony began at 4pm. I walked down the aisle knowing that the cake topper was still sitting in the Bride's Dressing Room waiting to be picked up!

4) Cake topper had been picked up by time ceremony was over, HOWEVER, cake did not arrive to reception venue until 5:15pm (My guests almost entered the reception venue with NO CAKE!)

5) Cake topper was not placed upon the cake. Vendor left cake on the table NOT COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED. Guests arrived to ceremony to see my cake unassembled on the cake table.

6) Mom, MOH, and Reception Coordinator had to figure out what cake was supposed to look like on their own and manage to put the topper on the cake. They had see a picture ONCE, but no one really knew what it was supposed to look like.

7) Cake topper overpowered the whole cake! Found out later after speaking with my florist that the florist had called cake vendor and told her she feared the topper may be too large. Florist had sent a vase of extra flowers for the vendor to use in case the original topper wasn't to work out. No one else knew this and therefore when the topper was left unassembled, my family and reception coordinator were left trying to work it out. They didn't know what the vase was for, and therefore did not use the flowers from the vase on the topper.


8) Cake was not designed according to the photos that were sent. Instead of mimicking the Monogram Design that was the whole theme for the wedding, vendor wrote our initials on the cake in capital letters.

9) Cake was "miniature" in size. Not even close to being a focal point in the room (Which is the point of a wedding cake). Sizes discussed over phone were misleading.

10) Found out after the wedding (everyone kept this info from me on the big day so that I didn't FREAK OUT!) That when the vendor was called about the cake topper, the response was. "Yes, I know, that cake is for TOMORROW." They had to be told NO, the cake was for that very day, and that the reception began in 2 1/2 hours!!!! I ALMOST DIDN'T HAVE A CAKE AT MY RECEPTION!!!!

11) Called post-wedding / honeymoon to discuss my grievances with vendor. She denied everything, was rude, kept making excuses, and would not accomodate or compensate for the extreme errors made!

PRODUCT WAS A LET - DOWN
WORST DECISION MADE OUT OF ALL VENDORS HIRED.

Pastries by Carla was absolutely wonderful for my wedding. She took the time to figure out exactly what I wanted as my cake and delivered it on time and had it absolutely perfect for my wedding. I appreciate all the hard work Carla put into my cakes. I will not go to anyone else for a cake and I refer anyone that asks me to go to Pastries by Carla for any special occasions and weddings!! Thanks Carla!
