Ceremony musicians were our "splurge." At $500 for 20-30 minutes of playtime - this is not a good deal! But we really wanted that atmosphere of live music for the ceremony.

We decided to hire Karen Isaac's quartet, who are all part of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra. We met with her and went over the music selection - she played some music for us and we chose which we wanted for the ceremony. I thought it would be great since they are in the professional orchestra. However, it was not great. We explained the music we wanted - then another time, I emailed to remind them the music. Then the day before the wedding I again emailed to remind them. Each time they said "okay, of course."

At the ceremony, they played almost ALL THE WRONG MUSIC!!! I wanted to walk down to the bridal march for my wedding - this is what I always thought of when I thought about my wedding. In fact, the bridal march always makes me get teary eyed because I always associate that with weddings. They DID NOT PLAY the bridal march. I do not know what they played. I did not even know if I should walk down the aisle or not! They played another standard wedding song I think cause I'd heard it before...but it was not the wedding march! I waited a couple minutes before I fianlly walked down, thinking theyd switch to the march..but they did not. They also did not play the right song for the wedding party entrance, and they did not play the right selections for the prelude music. We'd discussed various selections, and they ended up just playing Canon in D the entire 20 minutes over and over! People commented on the weirdness of why they repeated that song so much. People also commented on how it wasn't the bridal march. Finally, people commented on how the quartet made tons of mistakes while they were playing (I did not notice because I am usually clueless when it comes to music..) But I DO know they didn't play my march!!! :-( It made me so sad/mad. I feel like that was one of the things I was REALLY looking forward to...walking down the aisle to that song. I wish we'd saved 500 and used a boombox!!!!!!!
