John was great to work with, always completely professional, responsive, and on time. He knew we didn't want to spend too much time doing posed photos so he was very good at getting everyone together to get the shots. I only wish there were a few shots of my bridal party and I while we were getting ready and my husband and his groomsmen while they were getting ready (since John was there at the hotel with us), but looking back that is something that I probably should have specified to him instead of assuming he knew. We did get some great shots outside in the snow, and John made sure we got out there just in time before the sun went down and we missed the light. John gave us some fun "sneak peek" shots the day after the wedding which was great, and we received the rest of our photos within just a few weeks. Overall, a very good experience.

When wedding planning, we looked at different photographer websites. I selected my top three and then separately, my fiance (at the time!) selected his top three photographers. Without knowing who each other chose, we sat down together and discovered we BOTH chose John as our first choice. The main difference between John and the other photographers is that John has the natural talent to be able to capture candid moments between the bride/groom, family and wedding guests. My finace and I thought, posed pictures are great, but not every photographer can capture those moments that really do say a million words just by looking at the picture. We met with John, felt comfortable with him and agreed to ask John to be apart of our wedding.
We eventually arranged an engagement photo shoot. We thought we were safe from blizzard-like conditions in October, but we were wrong and had to reschedule. John was flexible in arranging to meet a different weekend with no problems (we were able to choose the locations!). We were more than pleased with our photos and used them for our save-the-dates.
Before we knew it, our wedding day arrived! John was once again punctual and captured the most BEAUTIFUL pictures that reflected us. We had several in our bridal party that we involved in other weddings this year, all of whom came up to my husband or I on our wedding day to compliment John's professionalism and how he "didn't get in the way" throughout the day or cause a distraction. We had a "sneak peak" the 1-2 days following the wedding and had our "brag book" of pictures to bring to work once we got back from our honeymoon. Our DVD of pictures and album followed shortly.
John always responded to us in a timely manner to any questions, concerns or suggestions we had. Needless to say, I highly recommend John O'Boyle to anyone I meet!

John is an amazing photographer and he is very passionate about his work without coming of snobby or arrogant. We were 50 MINUTES behind schedule to take photos for our wedding (the bridal party was dragging their feet with makeup). My wife and I told him we still wanted to drive around town (we got married in Asbury Park, NJ) despite being behind schedule and still needing family photos. John said, "alright let's do it," we jumped in a guest's van parked outside the hotel and took off for the boardwalk. We took photos at 4 different locations and john just kept moving everyone along. We finished our photos and made up the 50 minutes with time to spare.

My family was also totally impressed with his level of professionalism. My uncle likes to get in the way at weddings with his fancy camera and previous photographers have gotten very annoyed. When my uncle warned John to let him know if he was in the way, John responded with a big smile "you let me know if I am in your way!" John took great photos and none of them feature Uncle Mike with his camera!

I would recommend John to anyone looking for a great photographer that is affordable and artistic without the drama. John captured moments of our wedding that tell a great story, and many times we didn't even see he was there! Thanks John!!

We always knew that we didn't want traditional looking pictures at our wedding, so we decided to try photojournalism. We found John through the WPJA website and once we met him we were sure he was the right person to photograph our wedding.
John has the right personality, not pushy and always in a good mood; he was always prompt and got back to us quickly whenever we had questions. I was so excited that I had him take portrait photos of my husband as a birthday gift and they came out amazing.
The day of the wedding John was extremely professional and flexible, and best of all, he took absolutely gorgeous photos. The best part is that days after we came back from our honeymoon we received our brag book and the digital copies of all our pictures. Most people have to wait months to see their wedding photos, but John is used to working under pressure and sticking to a deadline, so he was able deliver quality work in a short amount of time.
I would wholeheartedly recommend John as a wedding and portrait photographer. He clearly loves his job and it shows in the photos he takes.

We were looking for a photojournalistic style for our wedding photos, so we included working photojournalists in our search. John came recommended by another photojournalist whose work we admired; they both shoot extensively for newspapers in New Jersey. John turned out to be a darn-near perfect match; he immediately clicked with both of us and understood what we were looking for. His pricing is straightforward, as well; he doesn't try to sell you any extras you don't need, he's available to you all day, and he gives you all rights to your photos. He was friendly and easygoing, and during the day of the wedding, put everyone at ease during the few formal family portraits we asked him to do. He also put a nervous bride and groom at ease as he took pictures of us pre-ceremony. During the ceremony and reception, he took some fantastic shots without being intrusive or prompted. The resulting shots exceeded even the high expectations we had for what we wanted. We'd recommend John in a heartbeat, whether you wanted him to shoot your wedding or engagement pictures.
