Our experience with James started a few years ago when he photographed my sister's wedding. At that time, Daniel and I had an instant connection with James - he was outgoing, friendly and easy to get along with. More than that, I really admired his work ethic and was very impressed by the pictures he delivered to my sister. When my turn came to plan a wedding, it was a no-brainer - we wanted James to capture our special day! Best decision EVER!! He's very professional, we barely felt him throughout the evening (which highlights his talent), and we couldn't have been happier with our pictures. He captured every important moment, and what I love most about his photography skills is that you can feel raw and real emotions in every shot. We could not have been happier with the quality of James' work. Starting before the wedding he helped us plan the types and style of photos while making sure that everything was still personal to us and our wedding. We decided that we did not want many posed photos and James was very accommodating of this. During the wedding weekend James and Dave (James' photography partner) were excellent - so easy and incredibly fun to work with and the results were such unique and memorable photos. James and Dave blended in with the day to such a degree that you didn't sense them around you yet their shots captured all the moments that were dear to us. James' professionalism was a great asset on our wedding day. He always knew what to do so we didn't have to worry about anything. After the wedding James put out some sample photos, a video, and blog within a few days and had the entire set to us within a couple of weeks. Whenever I give advice to my friends who are planning a wedding, I relay that one of the most important choices is the photographer. After all, at the end of the day, you have a spouse and photographs that capture the memories for years to come. Every time I look back at my wedding photos, I smile from ear to ear, remembering the wonderful day, in every single moment since James was there for every single one. He was at the salon while my girls and I got ready, and stayed throughout the entire evening. My husband's only concern when finding a photographer was that photos were not too forced or posed. James' style truly embraces capturing the moment with all the emotions of not just you and your spouse, but all your wedding guests so you can remember the people with whom you spent your special day. James is very friendly and easy to talk to and incredibly responsive to emails. James is amazing! James was there from the beginning of our wedding day with make-up and hair, to the end of the night where we were busting a move on the dance floor. He captured everything! We’ve only seen a sample of pictures thus far and already love the creativity and expertise in his work. Like many soon-to-be-married couples out there, there was a TON to do! We started planning for the wedding a full year in advance, and one of our first items of priority was securing a photographer, and not just any photographer. We didn't have a huge budget, but we knew that having a talented eye behind our wedding photos was going to be the thing that we remembered the most, years after the wedding was through. Needless to say, this was a huge priority for us. We scoured the internet looking for a talented team, and I can't express how hugely lucky we were to find James Correia. Throughout it all James was patient, generous with his time, and boy is he TALENTED! We are based in Toronto, and our wedding was in Bromont (Eastern townships QC), and given our crazy schedules James was kind enough to have our meetings on skype. He's responsive and clear in his communications, and is so very easy to work with (ohh how I wish I could say the same for all our wedding vendors!). Through the engagement shoot and for the wedding day, he was a real pleasure to work with. I would absolutely recommend him for everyone. He really went above and beyond for us, and I can't express how grateful we are (if only I could give him more stars!)

. When my wife and I started planning our wedding, one of our first orders of priority was to establish who was going to capture it, no easy feat I can assure you. Considering these are the stills of time that we will forever show off to our friends and fam, we were dedicated to finding the right complement to our styles, tastes and personalities. After scouring the net for portfolios, speaking with friends and receiving all sorts of recommendations, we settled with James Paul Correia and his team. Actually, “settle” may not be very appropriate, how about lucked out with James Paul Correia… James’ laid back demeanor coupled with inordinate amount of technological proficiency (I learned a lot about light…) turned out to be perfect a combination for shooting our special event. On the ground, what stood out most was James eye for the moment and his ability to be seemingly everywhere at once all the while remaining discreet. James and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with and customer service and satisfaction were second to none. Most importantly – the final product was amazing visual journey through our most memorable of days. My wife and I would highly recommend his services for any event.. James did the photography for our engagement and wedding last fall and he definitely exceeded our expectations. My husband and I were both nervous to get our picture taken and were worried that we wouldn't be able to "perform" for the camera. James was really able to help us relax and even showed us a couple of shots during the shoots to make us realize that despite how nervous we were, he was getting great pictures!!! James was flexible and took pictures of exactly what we requested at the wedding - and more! We had hundreds of amazing pictures from our wedding - even pictures we didn't think to ask for but are so happy to have:) James has been photographing weddings for several years and his portfolio shows how amazing he is at capturing the important moments and at doing couple shots and family portraits during a wedding. Photography was the most important thing to me next to the groom himself for our wedding day. I stumbled across James' website in my what seemed like endless search for a unique photographer. I was instantly drawn to the breath taking ability that James has to "capture the moment" in its entirety. We met with James first for our engagement shoot downtown Toronto in the distillery district both my husband Matthew and myself not knowing what to expect were put at ease from the very start through James' warm, easy going demeanor. He worked with us and managed to capture beautiful shots out of nervous giggles and everyday fun.
On the wedding day James was more of a good friend then a vendor. He made the two hour trip out of town to our venue and was there first thing in the morning to start in the festivities. From the very start he got along with the rest of our family and fit in perfectly with our wedding party, finding a connection with each person who was important to us and capturing moments with all of them.
Our photos tell a story of the day from start to finish, he took everything I asked for and exceeded it.

James did a wonderful job with our wedding!
He and his assistant spent the entire day and night with us taking wonderful photos, and made sure that all the photos came out great.
He was very professional and easy to communicate with, always responding to calls and emails in a prompt manner. He was willing to work with our schedule and made sure he had everything that was required throughout the day to make sure it went smoothly.
When picking a location for photos, he made sure to get an idea of the area by having us send him a few photos of the park to give him an idea of good photo locations (which made the day go very smoothly). We also appreciated that he came from Montreal to Toronto for our wedding.
During the ceremony and reception, he took some wonderful photos that our friends and family loved. He also surprised us by putting together a slide show for the reception with pictures taken during the day, which was a really nice touch.

To say we are picky people is an understatement. After looking through pretty much every photographer in Montreal and speaking with about a dozen of them, we finally found James. Then a phone interview, a face to face meeting and an engagement shoot-off between 2 photographers (like I said, we're picky). After passing our gauntlet of an interview process with flying colors, we knew we had finally found the one.
Not only was his photography style exactly what we were looking for, but we clicked on a personal level as well. BELIEVE ME when I say that your wedding day will be a stressful day for you and it is extremely important to find someone easy-going and calm like James to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
Like most couples looking to tie the knot, price was of course an area of importance to us. We found James' prices to be reasonable and in line with what we were looking to pay (to ensure we had budget left over for a videographer!).
Our hall happened to have a TV screen on the wall and at some point during the party, James came up to us asking if we'd like some of the pics from earlier that day to be put up on the screen. Of course! We (and the guests) were amazed by what we saw... even with no editing, the pics were amazing. We instantly got comments from the guests about how beautiful they were and asking about our photographer.
The wedding process involves dealing with so many vendors: halls, DJs, photographers, videographers, florists, etc. We can safely say that James was our favorite vendor and the only one that we now consider a friend.

I could right a review on how fantastic James is as a photographer but i think his photos speak for themselves. I had hired james all the way from montreal to come to ottawa becuase he was the best for the job! He is not only an amazing photographer but he is a fantastic person!! He made our day truly special and our photos captured every moment perfectly. We were so lucky to find James as our photographer... My husband and I had shopped around and couldn't find someone that we clicked and felt comfortable with. But then I happened to stumbled upon James' website and fell in love with his pictures. We checked out every blog he did and felt like we knew him as a friend already. We knew that he was the right fit for us.
It was great to have an engagement shoot first too! James was great at helping my husband feel comfy in front of the camera. His style was exactly what we wanted, not posed or fake smiles, just us as we were... happy :)
On the day of the wedding, I didn't even notice James running around. He was very very calm and even my guests had a great time with him. When we received our photos, we were amazed! He was able to capture every moment (even moments I dont even remember LOL that day goes very fast girls!). It was great to have those memories in such beautiful photographs. We found James through a Google search, and it turned out be one of the easiest (and best) decision we made for our wedding. From our first meeting, it was very apparent that this is more than a job for him. He's genuinely interested in getting to know his clients, flexible in his approach, and his passion for phtography comes through in everything that he does.
From the engagement session to the actual wedding, he did a good job of making both of us feel comfortable not only with the camera, but with him as well. Him and Richard (the secondary photographer) were pratically invisible during the wedding, yet manage to capture all the important moments.
My wife and I were surprised at how little we remembered of the whole day, but seeing James excellent work brought it all back. He was even able to deliver everything as promised even a few weeks after the birth of his baby girl.

What we were looking for: Pictures that would focus on the important moments of our big day, the natural progression of events. Pictures that would capture the emotions and feelings of everyone involved. Beautiful and original photos. A thoughtful, interesting and professional photographer.
What we wanted to avoid: Posed pictures. Being separated from our guests for long periods of time to have pictures taken. Generic looking photos.
What we got: Amazing photos! An amazing experience! Amazing memories!
James spent time with my husband and I prior to our wedding day asking loads of questions about our plans and getting to know our personalities a bit. Spending this time together not only allowed James to better understand what sort of photos we wanted, but it allowed us to become more comfortable with him. Considering our wedding was rather small and intimate, being comfortable with our photographer was very important.
The day of our wedding, James showed up eager and happy, yet calm. He worked constantly throughout the entire day and evening. He blended nicely with our guests and impressed them all with his work ethic as well as his speed and climbing skills ☺ Not only did he work really hard to get those perfect shots, but he seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself in the process. Exactly what we were hoping for!
The results surpassed all of our expectations. The photos brought back so many emotions and so much joy. I can't begin to express just how much they mean to us. As we looked through them over and over again, we found ourselves smiling, tearing up, giggling and even laughing out loud. James completely captured exactly what we were looking for. I felt like we got to relive our special day moment for moment. We can't thank James enough.

My (now) wife and I are the worst wedding planners in the world -- but we know how to choose a photographer. The photos on his website are fantastic, but it is hard to rely on just that. Right from our first meeting, though, we knew we wanted James to photograph our special day. Super nice, calm (very key), professional and with a keen sense of what we wanted, James made us feel that even if everything else was chaos, our photos would be great.
In the event, the wedding was a lot of fun, but with special challenges for the picture-taker -- a hurricane (!) derailed our plans for outdoor photos. No matter -- weather report in hand, James took the initiative in advance to scout out alternative locations. And the pictures he took there were, no exaggeration, perfect. Rave reviews from all the guests. Seriously.

James was a fantastic photographer. Not only is he personable, professional, and honest, he is extremely talented! In the wedding industry, you will find that everyone is trying to make a quick buck telling you that their stuff is the best....whether you are looking for a photographer, a videographer, flowers, a hall.....but when you look at their stuff, most of the time, the only thing that differentiates vendors is the price.
When I met with James, he completely blew me away. It wasn't about price or competition with him....it was his quality of work. He knows how to capture the moment and the emotion. He doesn't miss one minute of the event. When I got my wedding pictures....I cried so much because I remembered the happiness that I was feeling in those moments. It was the best day of my life. Without those pictures, I wouldn't have been able to remember what happened, because the wedding day was just a big blur.
When my family saw the pictures, there were in awe of not only how beautiful they were, but of how he captured every moment with emotion.
James, thank you so so so so much for helping me make my big day the most memorable day of my life. I will treasure these pictures forever.

We were extremely happy with the pictures that James took of our wedding and our experience with him as a photographer. The wedding photos were important to us, in particular for catching the moments of the day that happens so fast, so that we could look back on it and enjoy it later. Every time I go through the photos, I get just that experience.
We had lots of family coming from all over the world, and so we wanted to focus on spending time with them, so we were not keen on the idea of taking lots of time away from the guests and celebrations to do posed photo shoots. For this, James was amazing! He managed to get so many incredible shots during the ceremony and at our cocktail and reception after, but we hardly took any time away from everyone... Because everything was so well integrated, we even have great memories of the moments that the photos were taken instead of just remembering what color the bridesmaid's dresses were! Everything was natural and we never felt like we were being forced to pose into something that wasn't us.
One thing that James was very good at was capturing the emotions of people. When we re-look at the images, we are taken back to the exact feeling of the moment, whether a touching speech, giddy excitement, or face-splitting grins of happiness. We were also provided with a wide variety of photos, not just the stereotypical shots. Everyone that has seen the collection of photos remarks on their originality.
What we remarked maybe most of all was the quality and quantity of James' pictures: in fact, we were astonished when we got the final photos, thinking that we had already seen the best photos in the previews that he had shown us, but there were so many incredible pictures, that what we had already been thrilled with was just the tip of the iceberg. There were just so many terrific photos.

Of all the difficult decisions you will have to make for your wedding - and there will be many! - James Paul Correia will be the best one.
When they pull out their wedding albums and look back at one of the most precious celebrations of their lives, most married couples tend to wish they did something here or there a bit differently. She wishes that she did her hair up instead of down; he wishes he hit the gym harder so that the double chin wouldn’t’ be so prominent; and both of them wished they picked a day with better weather. However, none of these concerns or regrets would ever matter if your photographer was someone who shot your wedding not because they were paid to, but because they loved to. And James Correia is exactly the kind of photographer who blends exceptional talent with strong passion, and delivers them both to you with a rare touch of professionalism and refined etiquette.
My wife and I are simply in love with our wedding photos, and we have James to thank for that. When looking for a photographer, we were keenly aware that all of the money we were spending on decor and all the time we were putting into the preparations for our special day would have been meaningless if we did not capture these wonderful moments. And because we are not big fans of staged portraits (you know, the ones with everyone putting on a fake smile), we wanted a candid photographer who is skilled at capturing genuine emotions. After all, anyone can grab a group of people and ask them to smile on command. But only a very talented photographer can capture timeless photos of people having the time of their lives, without them even knowing he was there. Which brings me to another rare virtue that James possesses.
James Correia is remarkably scarce. He simply does not get in the way of your wedding, and to be honest, sometimes you don’t even realize he is there. Considering how bulky some of his equipment is, that tells a lot about his agility and style. We even jokingly called him “the ninja” precisely for that reason. Perhaps his most important attribute is his unfailing ability to rise above your expectations. Every time.
For example, our wedding involved two celebrations, one of which was a traditional Islamic ceremony. Because it was his first time shooting an Islamic wedding ceremony in a Mosque, James met with me and listened as I explained all of the various rites and rituals involved on the day of. He took everything I said very seriously, always asked important questions, and even made some suggestions that we did not consider.
On the day of, we expected that he would be ultra-formal, snap as many pictures as he can, and then politely excuse himself once the ceremony ended. But he went beyond that. He arrived at the mosque before anyone in order to take several shots of the mosque from the outside and inside (something we did not ask of him). What’s more, during the actual ceremony and in the after party, he was very courteous to our guests, always making people smile, and totally integrating into our culture. And as with our wedding reception the following day, James was one of the last people to leave.
And his work ethic? Suffice it to say that these events were two days in a row, and he worked an average of 8 hours one day and 14 hours the next, not including commuting time.
If it is not obvious by now, James is a very caring photographer who takes a genuine interest in the couples that “hire” him. (The reason I put it between quotation marks is because on the wedding day, you never actually feel that James is someone you employed. You simply feel that he’s a really fun and cultured friend who happens to be an excellent photographer.)
When you have someone with this exceptionally rare combination of skills and manners, why on earth would you waste any more time looking for a photographer?

I truly had an amazing experience with James. I was not sure what to expect as I was planning all from a distance and would only get the chance to meet James a few days before my wedding, so it was stressful but he made it so easy!
We had an engagement session a few days prior to our big day which really helped to get to know James and get comfortable so when the big day came we knew what we needed to do and what he would be doing.
He really captured the best moments of our wedding without getting in the way, we actually forgot he was there at moments.
