Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
Each and every photo is retouched and perfected before it is placed in your hands. Variety of style can range anywhere from traditional black and whites, "clean" sepias, blue tones, purple tones, special effects, zoom effects, shadow/highlighting, minimizing wrinkles, erasing blemishes,-- Overall our goal for EACH photo is to "realistically" enhance photo quality for a magazine ready product.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Salvatore has shot in Italy for over 20 years using ONLY film and working with natural lighting (reflectors) to help with skin tone and shadows. Now, with new modern lenses, updated programs, his "film trained" eye captures the perfect photo, with perfect lighting - every time. His lenses are top quality, allowing dark areas to be highlighted in detail.
Is your media preference film or digital?
Salvatore primarily shoots with 3 brand new, professional digital cameras (choice of 5 lenses, including zoom, fisheye, wide angle, portrait, and micro). Also on hand, he brings three film cameras for back-up.
How many photographers do you work with?
We always have two (2) photographers to capture every angle. Also included is a highly trained lighting assistant. Back-up photographers are also on hand for events over 300.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
YES. We will NEVER replace ourselves with imitations.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Typically for full day weddings, (8-14 hours) no. :)
Weekdays can have up to three for small elopement ceremonies (1-2 hours each)
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
We have four (4) professional photographers we work with on a regular basis. If there was an emergency, illness, or unseen problem, we give our clients a few options for their next choice. One would be to allow us to help find another photographer that suits their needs. Another way would be to completely refund their money. We work very closely with our clients and develop great relationships... this would be our worst nightmare if we could not be there on your special day -- and would do everything in our power to help you out if that time ever came.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
3 digital cameras, 3 film cameras, 3-5 reflectors, clients' file, studio lights on request, two strobe flashes, step stool for higher angles, back-up comb, back up bobby pins... we can't give away ALL our secrets! :)
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
ALWAYS (see above)
Do you charge hourly or full day?
hourly for elopement ceremonies, daily for full days. All packages are customizable and can be broken down to hourly.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Overtime is $350/hour, $300 without assistant.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
none. (Only when the host is so kind to provide a meal!)
Do you charge for travel?
NO
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
30-60 days (fully retouched). Un-touched shots can be given the very next day (however we never prefer to do this). We live off of perfection!
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Unlike ANY other photographer we know, we provide ALL photos, fully retouched on DVD (to reprint LARGE any time in the future) -- as well as 4x6 print. NO studio imprints are placed on the print/proof.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
Forever
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes, with clients' permission
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, up to 6 months
What kind of albums do you offer?
Traditional Rice Paper, Graphi Library Bound, Magazine style, Modern "Lay-Flat" and I-Mount. Most all of our albums are ordered from Italy.
When will the client get the final album?
This depends on how soon you get your photo decisions back to us to design. Typically 3 months.
