E very wedding is a special event, but your wedding is a unique adventure tailored to your specific style. Instead of climbing into a limo ride to head to your local church, you’re boarding a plane, dress and passport in hand; in place of a standard ceremony you’re saying your vows at some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery. Best of all, the moment you’re pronounced partners; you’ll already be on your honeymoon.

There are thousands of reasons to have a destination wedding (DW) as there are couples who have them. Perhaps you may want the opportunity to host your wedding at an exotic location, the place you first met or have always envisioned walking down the aisle on a sandy beach. Maybe most of your guests had to travel to your wedding anyway, why not give them the opportunity to fly someone sensational.

However, with all these benefits come some difficulties – is a DW really for you? A week-long DW may not fit into everyone’s schedule or budget, travel can be especially hard on some (think elderly) guests, so make sure you prepare yourself for narrowed down RSVP’s when they come in. You’ll have a few extra tasks on your list, but since your planning from thousands of miles away the most important thing you will have to learn is how to relax about some of the details.
