About

Currently taking appointments for 2020/2021 reservations.

On a hillside west of the entrance to Champoeg State Park, above the banks of the Willamette River, stands the home of Robert Newell. Built in 1852, the house sits on just under three acres and is surrounded by gardens and farm lands. Our gardens consist of heritage roses, perennial beds, a large lawn with mature trees. Also included in the Newell Pioneer Village is the Pioneer Mothers Memorial Cabin and an 1850's one room school and jail. The grounds of the Village makes a charming backdrop for weddings, providing a wonderful step back in time.

The Newell Pioneer Village has several unique collections of Oregon history artifacts, creating a wonderful atmosphere for your guests. Our collection includes the Oregon Inaugural Ball Gown Collection, with the earliest gown dating back to 1849. Newell House has an extensive collection of quilts, needlework, and other piece goods dating back to the 1700's. There are also many carding, spinning, and weaving tools on display from many original pioneer families. The museum is fortunate to have a significant collection of early basket, bead, and leather work from many northwest Indian tribes, as well as many items once owned by the last Indian Princess of Coos Bay.

The Newell Pioneer Village offers you the flexibility to create the wedding package that fits your specific wedding requests and needs, creating an event to remember for a lifetime! Ellen Crauthers, our on-site wedding coordinator is available to answer any questions you may have. Call to reserve your date and speak with Ellen at (503) 678-5537.

The Newell Pioneer Village sits just outside of the Champoeg State Heritage Area located south of Wilsonville between I-5 and Hwy 99W.

Perfect venue for our garden-party wedding

Newell Pioneer Village was the perfect venue for our 100-person wedding - we cannot recommend enough! The lawn, trees, and foliage ringed by a historic manor house, pioneer cabin, and school house created such a natural garden party backdrop that we hardly needed to bring our own decorations. We loved the ease of having our wedding ceremony and reception at a single location, with much of the wedding equipment already available onsite. Judy and Ashley are very experienced with hosting weddings, and they were instrumental in helping us plan, set up, and carry out the event. Highly recommend!

Absolutely Lush and Amazing Customer Service

Beautiful location located just minutes from the start of beautiful Oregon wine country. We loved the lush greenery at this location; the huge shady trees, bursts of floral color throughout, and the layout of this venue. The service from Ellen and her team is amazing and they are so easy to work with. We can't wait to get married here!

I cannot say enough good things about The Newell Pioneer Village. We picked this place because of it's look, friendliness and professionalism of staff, and flexibility. Judy is THE BEST! She truly got to know us as a couple and listened to what we wanted for our special day. She was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had, and was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we were all on the same page. We could not have asked for a better venue!

The Newell House Museum is an amazing venue for weddings. From a photographer's viewpoint it is absolutely superb. From the beautiful white buildings to the huge open field; there is so much variety for creative composition for photos. Judy and Dennis were both so easy going and willing to assist in anyway. Any wedding theme would fit perfectly whether it was modern, classic, or vintage. I highly recommend this venue and very much look forward to working with Judy and Dennis again in the future.
