Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
I bring a strong background in graphic design and production. So, I can tell the story using my camera, natural light and editing software. I love to play with images and that includes whatever it takes to make the image "pop!" ... black/white, sepia, textures, spot coloring, imaginative layouts and every image gets a "beauty treatment" where I go in and touch up blemishes, shine spots, etc.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
If you are a wedding photographer you have to adapt to the light of the situation, including power outages! Every venue is different and so is the light, whether it be from side windows, candle light, on camera or off camera flash, over head lighting, neon signs...I live for light!

Is your media preference film or digital?
I am all digital and have been for years!

How many photographers do you work with?
I work with as many as needed to cover the event.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
I am adamant about this. I am the primary contact person. That means I am with you throughout the entire process, from consulation, to the engagement portrait and bridal portrait sessions, the weddings and final delivery of your albums. You are my number one concern.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
I am available to my couples so I only shoot one wedding a day.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
This has NEVER happened to me. But I do have a contingency plan in case something out of the ordinary happens.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I carry two cameras with me at all times. I have two on camera flashes as well. Plus I carry five various lenses at all times.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes.

Do you charge hourly or full day?
I have package rates that are all inclusive.

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
I stay with the bride and groom until the event is over. You never know if the wedding will run late which would then push everything back. I settle up with my clients AFTER the honeymoon if there is a need for that.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
None. I am there to work.

Do you charge for travel?
Outside of the Metroplex, I charge gas and hotel/meal rates.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Generally, I have the digital proofs up on line while you are on your honeymoon. Many of my clients come home and tell me they spent time on their honeymoon looking at their wedding images from far away places. It's pretty neat to be able to give clients that service.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
The on line viewing and ordering is up within a couple of days of the wedding. The DVD and copyright release of the images is ready in about two weeks when the proof book comes back from the printer.

How long can the client keep the proofs?
The private on line gallery is up there for free for one year. The couple gets the hi-res images and proof book to keep.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
I release the copyright on the images for the clients limited use of printing the images for themselves.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes. My contract states that I may use the wedding images for advertising/marketing/competitions and any other use as necessary.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes. I provide the hi-res digital negatives and the copyright release.

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes. The private gallery is kept active for one year.

What kind of albums do you offer?
I work with several top-of-the-line album companies to offer customized leather and fabric flush mount albums, slip in albums and proof books.

When will the client get the final album?
My packages include at least one album in every package.

Additional Questions and Answers
I started my business in 2003. Since then, I have shot many weddings around the Metroplex, US and around the world. My favorite places to shoot are the ones where the bride and groom and I feel like old friends. It's important for me to have that rapport with couples so that we can get some fun and natural shots. I love what I do. Please feel free to contact me for more information. 972-841-3919. Margaret

Tips and Advice
When choosing a wedding photographer you will no doubt have many questions: what type of equipment, what are your packages, what is your price, etc. But the most important tip I have is trust your gut. Will this wedding photographer have the poise to deal with wedding day emergencies, will you want that person to be invited in to one of your family's most intimate occasions? Will your photographer be respectful, patient, encouraging, resourceful? There are a lot of great shooters in the DFW area. But will he or she deliver outstanding customer service both during and after your wedding? Trust Moving Images Productions to follow through the entire wedding planning with enthusiasm and professionalism. Thank you.
