We found Melissa through a co-worker of mine who used her for family photos. We originally started using her to photograph our daughter and our family, on a yearly basis. When we became engaged we immediately reached out to her about capturing our wedding. She sent me an email with her package options, which I then referred to our wedding planner, as this was foreign to me. Pricing was excellent and so we moved forward right away. Melissa came to meet me at work to pick up the contract and deposit, and the final monies as well. She did beautiful work for our engagement photos and it was cold and windy that day. We trekked around downtown Raleigh and the photos are stunning. My bridal portraits were done a month before our wedding and I still haven't chosen my favorites! They're all so beautiful! On our wedding day our package included 2 photographers and after we were done prepping, they just disappeared into the ceremony and reception, as we had hoped they would. We are excited to see our wedding photos but have absolutely no doubts that they will be a continuation of excellent work that we have always had when working with Melissa!

Melissa Smith was hired to photograph engagement pictures for my fiance and I this October. I spoke with her through e-mail and phone several times. Her communication wasn't wonderful, it would often take her several days to reply to my e-mails but I still went through with our scheduled engagement session. On the day of my session I had my hair, nails and make-up done for the photos. Our session was scheduled for 5pm and Melissa NEVER SHOWED UP! I called her several times and she never answered. An hour and a half later I received a TEXT MESSAGE (not phone call) that she had gone to Winston-Salem early that morning for a "family emergency". She informed me through TEXT that I should have checked my Facebook because she had messaged me (what professional communicates through Facebook??). After putting us through all of that Melissa refused to return our $500 security deposit. She even mentioned in one e-mail that she would refund me for the cost I incurred for preparing for our session but that was a lie, she never sent the check she promised. I would NOT recommend Melissa Smith if you are looking for someone reliable. Thank goodness this was an engagement session not my wedding day.
