About
Kelley Kakes (formerly known as Iced Dreams) is a small cake company based in Denver.  We specialize in wedding cakes, but can make whatever type of cake your heart desires.  We love to create unique confections to match your personality and style.... we think outside the box, love a challenge and welcome all of your wonderful ideas.  We have stayed small on purpose as we like the one on one time we get to spend with our clients.  You’ll meet with the cake artist that will work on your cake from conception to delivery.
In addition to cakes we also hand sculpt sugar flowers, cake toppers, your pets, favorite motorcycle, you on skis... you get the idea!  We also make decorated cookies, chocolate dipped strawberries, brownies, pies, giant cookies, butter mints, decorated mints, edible place cards, etc...
We love our job!  We get to be part of your big day and what an honor that is for us!

Endorsements
Not only do we recommend Kelley Kakes to every couple we work with, but they did our wedding cake for Michael and I at our wedding in 2006 and it was more than I imagined it would be! The cake looked and tasted amazing and the service was exceptional. I've seen the same level of service as well on all the weddings that we've covered!
We've been priviledged to work with Kelley at many weddings over the last couple years. As wedding photographers, we have seen a lot of wedding cakes, and tasted them too. While many are beautiful, Kelley Kakes are both beautiful, and delicious. It also helps that Kelley is one of the nicest people around.
Kelley does a fantastic job designing beautiful and delicious cakes. I have had the pleasure of working with her at several events now, and I can testify that the guests always love her work!

Frequently Asked Questions for Wedding Cake
Do you offer private tastings or open house tastings?
We come to you for a private tasting

What are your tasting hours?
We work around your schedule and frequently do them in the evenings.

Describe how you price, such as by slice or by tier, for your cakes?
We charge per serving.

Does the price include the top tier of the cake?
Absolutely

Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles?
We think it would be rather dull to constantly repeat ourselves... bring on your ideas!

What (if any) special ingredients, such as fresh fruits or farm-fresh butter, do you use in your cakes?
Fresh fruits when in season and we freeze for the winter to keep a constant supply. We don't believe in diet cake--- real butter, heavy cream, fantastic chocolates.... the good stuff!

On average, how far in advance of the event do you prepare the cake?
We bake one to two days ahead of the wedding depending on complexity of design and the size of the cake.

How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?
The most we'll do between us is four. Typically we do two in a weekend.

Will you work with the client's florist to garnish the cake?
Absolutely!

What (if any) cake accessories, such as a cake stand or cake cutter, do you rent out?
We own a plethora of cake stands that we rent out. We don't actually charge to use them, but simply hold a deposit until they are returned.

Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee?
We deliver all of our cakes ourselves. The first 30 miles is free of charge and after that it's 50 cents per mile

Tips and Advice
Check out the web and cake magazines for ideas.  Consider tying in your wedding colors using ribbon, sugar or fresh flowers, etc...

Don't feel limited to "simple white cake with minimal detail" due to budget restrictions.  A good cake artist wants your cake to stand out and should work with you to create something unique just for you.

Personalized groom's cakes are fun and always a hit!  Add them into the total servings so you don't end up with a lot of leftover cake.... or save the cake to serve to those family and friends who are visiting for your wedding.  Serve during a special brunch in their honor.

Go online and ask the local brides who they've used.  Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement.

Make sure you taste samples beforehand if possible.  If you're going to pay for it, you should want to eat it!
