About Us

Visit www.facebook.com/harwelden to see photos of the mansion!

Harwelden reflects the elegance of the early 1920s with its unique detail and great style. The mansion rests in elegant splendor against rolling hills that overlook the Arkansas River. It is a resplendent setting for any special event. Situated near the 21st Street Bridge and Riverside Drive, Harwelden is minutes from Tulsa’s downtown business district as well as the metropolitan region.

At Harwelden, each room is designed and furnished for comfort and function. Up to 150 guests can enjoy the home setting on the main level. The private sunroom, sun porch, library, living room, dining room, and kitchen comprise the main floor. From the entrance hall, a grand staircase sets off to a 2nd floor landing with beautiful stained-glass windows. The outside grounds include a slated terrace almost reaching the full length of the main floor with stately stairs leading down to a romantic water garden.

Harwelden was first listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, and is the only example of Collegiate English Gothic Tudor in Tulsa. The home was built for oilman Earl Palmer Harwell and his wife Mary. It has been the home of the Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa since 1967.
