Most people don't like to be photographed, so they need to, at a minimum, like the person behind the camera. You can hire the most talented photographer in the world, but if you don't like them or feel comfortable with them, it'll show in your portraits. I believe that my job is to capture moments in people's lives (big or small) that otherwise would have been missed or lost. And the "real" moments are captured when people feel comfortable and forget about the camera.
