Crystal far exceed every expectation and significantly helped to make the entire wedding experience unforgettable. We love her style, her ability to capture candid split second moments, and the stories she tells through pictures. We were relaxed and often laughing, having a great time throughout the entire process. She is quietly competent, fun, and very well organized.
If photos are a priority for you, she is affordable! We did a package that included some engagement photos before the wedding, which was a great opportunity to get to meet Crystal and get a feel for how we wanted to work together. After that session at a park near our home, we felt much more prepared for what to expect on the wedding day, and we ended up with some amazing photos for our wedding website.
She asked a lot of thoughtful questions and sent some short surveys to get to know us, and help her prepare for what we wanted, how we wanted our big day to flow.
The day of the wedding at the Kennedy School, she collaborated with the DJ extremely well. We didn't have a wedding planner, so it was just them herding all the cats. They were able to help us pull off a large group picture with Crystal getting on top of a ladder that came out great. She was able to get our 6 year old nephew to smile during family portraits in really hot weather, which is close to impossible!
I really wasn't expecting the kind of creative breadth we received in our photos. She was able to catch fleeting sweet and goofy moments, poses and portraits that you'd find in a magazine, conventional stuff you want in a family album, and even some artsy shots that I wouldn't be surprised to find in a gallery.
It's evident she takes great care in her craft and also cares about doing a great job for her clients.
The hardest part of the process is choosing which photos to print out! I can say after working with Crystal, we now know what a truly great photographer can do. We'd highly recommend her to anyone.

We looked at the portfolios of a LOT of different photographers online before choosing CrystalGene. Online, her framing, use of color and range of shots from formal to informal stood out. Choosing her was the best decision! Not only did we get over a thousand pictures , in both black and white and color; but her help with the event timeline and decisions about how to structure the event was invaluable. She has a wonderful eye for getting people in front of backgrounds that greatly enhance the photographs. Her description of herself as someone who loves color is totally right on!! She went above and beyond in terms of communicating, as well as graciously staying over her agreed upon time as our event ran late.
The pictures arrived promptly, and in far greater numbers that we could have imagined!! Our challenge now is choosing amongst them, for what to print out.
That is not a bad challenge to have!!!
