About Us
Besides being a photographer, I am an artist who works in stained glass, and artistry informs my photography. Im in my 50s; I have a Ph.D. from McGill University, and I have had a varied career to this point. Im married, with three grown daughters and three grandchildren. My youngest daughter, a photography student in university, often assists me.
I shoot weddings infrequently enough that I can give you my full attention as you plan your wedding, and can prepare digital photo files, prints and albums promptly for you after the event. I have over 20 years experience shooting portraits and social events.
I work well with couples and their families; I enjoy people, and it shows. I put people at ease and stay in the background as much as possible. I have a good eye for a photo framing and composition come naturally to me. I also experiment novel angles, lighting, or exposures can make for striking images.
I like to establish a rapport with the couple so that you can be yourselves in front of the camera, and even clown around if you wish. Thus I capture the moment, in timeless portraits. I pay attention to the unscripted moments and little events of the day, getting those photojournalistic images that you will treasure.
I come to your event well-prepared, with two or three camera bodies and several really nice lenses, as well as two flash guns. Images from your event are copied to my main computer and also archived soon after they are taken from the cameras flash cards.
I am an experienced Photoshop professional, and can do standard cosmetic re-touching. I can go beyond this however; for example, I can render a photo in artistic black and white or sepia, or remove color from everything but a bouquet, or enhance the light, shadows and focus to draw the eye where it should go, or change the color of a wall to match the color of the flowers, or sharpen the irises of the brides eyes until the image is dazzling. And so forth.
