Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
What primary photographic style do you identify with?
Contemporary, Photojournalism, Portraiture, Traditional / Posed
What do your packages include?
Albums, Custom Graphic Design, Digital Files, Flush Mount, High Resolution Images, Matted Prints, Prints, Proof CD of All Images, Thank You Cards, Video Montage
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
I focus mostly on getting images right straight out of the camera. I then use Lightroom to correct white balances and exposures, and Photoshop to boost contrast, color & sharpness. I strongly believe in having be on the moment in the photo as opposed to how it was processed. Vintage toning & hand-coloring, in my opinion, dates your photos and isn't something that I would recommend anyone do.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Yes! I have shot in every kind of lighting situation you can think of. I am prepared to make quick decisions when needed as far as choosing how to shoot in different scenarios.
Is your media preference film or digital?
Digital, baby.
How many photographers do you work with?
I will be your main photographer & my husband will either be assisting me with lighting or shooting as well.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
One per day. A couple of times a year, I may do more than one per weekend if it is in the same area.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes. I have a few!
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Cameras, lenses, flashes, manuals, laptop, memory cards, batteries, etc...

Yes, of course!
Do you charge hourly or full day?
All of my wedding collections include unlimited wedding day coverage.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
N/A
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
I usually require that my assistant and I be seated with the guests during dinner. This is to ensure we do not miss a single moment during the reception, and gives us energy for the remainder of the night while everyone dances away.
Do you charge for travel?
There are no travel costs to cities that are within 100 miles of Chicago, IL. Anything outside of that 100 mile radius will be charged at cost for my assistant and myself.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
400-600 fully edited wedding photos will be in the online proofing gallery within 12-16 weeks.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Clients can first view their images in a password-protected online gallery for 60 days which is also available to their friends and family as well for viewing and ordering.
How long can the client keep the proofs?

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes, I retain the copyrights. However, the bride and groom will receive a signed reproduction release from myself, which will allow them to print their photos at the lab of their choice up to any size or quantity.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes! Every wedding collection includes the disc with approximately 400-600 fully edited wedding day images.

Additional Answers & Advice:
Choosing the Wedding Day Locations: The location is so important in getting great wedding photos. Try to be mindful of lighting when choosing your locations throughout the day. For example, where the bride is getting ready. Lots of natural lighting such as window light, will achieve great results whereas a conference roof with fluorescent lighting is highly unflattering.
Picture Time: If you saw my gallery and liked my work, please know that you can only achieve that in your own wedding if you allow enough time for photography during the day. 20 minutes after the ceremony & before the reception for family and bridal party photos, and creative bride & groom portraits just will not cut it. Set aside time for just the two of you during cocktail hour. Even better, opt to see each other before the ceremony and set aside between 1-2 hours. We'll still take "first look" photos, and you won't feel rushed to get to your reception during this time. Plus, once the ceremony is over, you can focus on just pictures with the family & you'll feel more relaxed the rest of the day knowing that you are done with the most important shots. Most of my brides & grooms choose to see each other before their ceremonies. |
