About

Welcome, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

My name is Ashley, and I offer wedding officiation for global couples in the Los Angeles area -- from non-religious to a mix of faiths, from a simple, civil ceremony to Celtic hand-fasting, chuppah to mantra, my aim in designing a ceremony is to translate the love of two individuals into an authentic, elegant, and meaningful experience for everyone involved. As the world becomes smaller, we find ourselves meeting and falling in love with people from different religious, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. If you and your partner are looking for a ceremony that represents your diverse experiences, or if you are looking for a blend of the traditional and the new, I'd love to work with you to create a wedding ceremony that best represents your partnership!

With an academic background in communication and psychology, I consider myself ever and always a student of love. For two years, I taught a college course on the origins of romantic love, and I've found that, even after hours of study and conversation, love remains multi-faceted , highly personal, and as complex as it was when we began our inquiry.

As a ceremony designer and officiant, I help couples craft unique ceremonies that reflect their own values, ideas of love, and wishes for their future lives together. I'm here to help you articulate the forms of love you find most important, most compelling, and most uniquely YOU.

I offer the following services:

* Ceremony Design and Officiation -- with training in public speaking and an interest in the intersection of multiple spiritual traditions, I specialize in working with interfaith, intercultural, and secular ceremonies. I will work with you to craft a ceremony that suits your particular needs and incorporates your families, friends, and loved ones in a way that best represents you.

* Vow Planning - for those who are writing their own vows, I offer assistance streamlining your thoughts and making your words as special and powerful as you envision. I have a background in writing instruction and personal narrative, and I consider it an honor to help people match the right language to their inner experiences.

UPDATE: I am now fully-based in Los Angeles and responding to inquiries!

Ashley did a wonderful, touching and personal ceremony. She pulled off an interracial, multi-cultural wedding between an Indian and American with ease. She was able to straddle the traditions and subtleties of both cultures very easily. She sat with us many times to understand what we wanted from the ceremony and the general theme we were striving for and translated that vision to a real ceremony that we could not have better realized ourselves. I would be very happy to provide more details and references to anyone interested in having her as an officiant.

Ashley was a very helpful, calm, and centered officiant--exactly what we needed with all the excitement and chaos when planning a wedding. She was able to put my Indian husband at ease when deciding what Hindu elements we could incorporate into our ceremony, something with which he really struggled at first. Ashley's empathetic, thoughtful, and measured approached helped him decide what really mattered and pull those elements into our wedding. Her international experience, global worldview, and culturally sensitive perspective worked perfectly for us. She also worked with me to suggest meaningful practices to incorporate that reflected my cultural values. She helped my husband and I braid together our cultures and our beliefs as a couple to create a ceremony that was unique, yet traditional, and genuinely reflected everything we wanted for the day. She did an outstanding job.
