Amy is fantastic! For us, the wedding photographs were important because we will have them forever. We knew upon meeting Amy that she was a perfect fit. Amy has this great energy that makes posing for photos natural and fun. She only accepts a few weddings so she can focus on those and you will indeed get her focus. Amy is responsive, professional, and talented to boot! She helped coax my camera-shy husband into posing for our engagement session and she found stunning backdrops to shoot us with our dog. On the big day, she and her assistant took so many amazing photos it was a challenge deciding which ones to frame. Amy was absolutely amazing!!! She was always very responsive and extremely flexible. She was very willing to do a payment plan with us and was always open to hearing our ideas and suggestions. Searching all over the internet to find a photographer at the last minute. That's when we came across Amy Raab's website and we had to have her as our photographer. Our first time meeting her was on our wedding day (07/25/14) and she was outstanding. We felt as if we knew her for forever. We first found Amy's work through the wedding coordinator at the Naval Academy, and I was struck by how creative she was with her photos in a way other wedding photographers weren't -- she had detail shots that captured moments beyond just the bride and groom and guests, you could really feel the day itself in her work, and there was a certain artistry with her images we couldn't find with anyone else. Now that we have our photos, I can't stop looking at them! As journalists, we were looking for someone to really tell a story from our wedding day, not plug-and-chug through a checklist of shots. Amy and Arianne made sure they got the photos we wanted of family and friends, sure, but the ones that we cherish the most are those where they captured our emotions and the beautiful moments from the day. And they are certainly professionals! They work their tails off, not stopping just because of, for example, torrential rains and thunderstorms. Amy knows what she's doing (and she's not afraid to tell you so, either!), both in the shots themselves and the overall flow of the day. The photos were absolutely worth the investment for us -- not only are they gorgeous, of course, but as my father (a nature photographer) reminded me, all we have the day after our wedding is each other and the photos!

My husband and I recently received all of our wedding photos from Amy and we were quite simply speechless about how Amy and her assistant, Arianne, captured the love, emotion, and beauty of our day. Upon looking at the photos they took, we were instantly brought back to the tears of joy we shed as we saw each other from opposite ends of the aisle for the first time and the laughter we shared while we danced with all of our guests. Amy is truly brilliant and has a rare talent that you will not find elsewhere. We were equally amazed by the incredible talent of her assistant, Arianne. They were an absolute pleasure to work with. My husband and I were the type of bride and groom who were very nervous to be the center of attention for the day and we are typically not very comfortable in front of cameras. I will never forget how nervous I felt when I put on my wedding gown and it was time for my portrait shots. Amy made me feel instantly at ease with her warm smile, calming demeanor, and fun attitude - and my photos far surpassed the best of my expectations because of this. Amy and Arianne made my husband and I feel comfortable and natural the entire day, which is an incredible feat for people like us being followed by photographers all day! We were also impressed by how quickly we received our photos after the wedding - there are many photographers who do not complete editing until 6 months after the wedding because they are overburdened with too many weddings to shoot. Amy is selective in the number of weddings she photographs in a year, which enables her to edit every single shot from each wedding to perfection and also do so within an extremely fast timeframe given the amazing quality of her work. Photographs are the only lasting things you will have to remember your wedding day with and there is no better person to provide the medium through which you can re-live the most special day of your life for decades to come than Amy Raab.

We hired Amy and her assistant Arianne for our October wedding at the Fairmont Washington DC. We were extremely pleased with how our photos turned out and would hire them again.. Amy was very helpful in helping us map out a photography timeline, especially since we decided to do a "first look." She knew exactly how long each portion should take and how to make things go smoothly. We started by them taking photos of the guys and girls getting ready, then my husband and I by ourselves at our venue, and in Georgetown (I scouted the locations myself but that's because I wanted to). Then the usual wedding party & family photos. I am an advocate of the "first look," especially if your ceremony and reception are in the same place. That way you can enjoy the majority of your cocktail hour. It’s nice to have some quality time with your husband prior to the wedding because it's really the only time you are alone together. For me, it didn't take anything away from the walk down the aisle. Anyways, back to Amy! During the wedding planning process, she was always responsive to my emails - sometimes it took a few days, but that was fine, because she always got me the information I needed. On our wedding day, she and Arianne were built a great rapport with our group instantly. The photo session was pretty relaxed, we did some posed shots but mostly they just captured us more relaxed and candid. I felt like when I went through the photos afterward that I completely relived the entire day. Another thing that these two ladies did exceptionally well was to capture photos of all of our guests at the reception. They did such a great job of getting fun, semi-posed or candid photos of all of our friends and family. We received numerous compliments on how beautiful our photos were. The photo website they use makes it easy to save your favorite photos to later create your album & order prints. Amy was easy and quite enjoyable to work with, definitely a reasonable and drama-free vendor.

After searching online for photographers throughout the Washington area, I stumbled across Amy Raab's website and instantly fell in love with the richness of color in her photos and her knack for capturing special moments instead of cheesy poses. Once I spoke with her over the phone, I was sold! Not only is she talented, but she is warm and friendly and clearly passionate about her work. I booked her immediately and I am so happy I did!

My husband and I first met Amy at our engagement session. She spent so much time with us and our dog Emma to make sure she got the perfect shots, and the photos came out amazing! We used them for our save the date, website, and engagement announcement in the Washington Post.

During the planning process, Amy was very accessible and responsive to my questions. She was very organized, and prepared a shot list to ensure we did not miss anything we wanted to capture. On our wedding day, Amy and her associate, David Spence, were absolutely incredible. Although it was clear that they were focused on getting great pictures, they still chatted and laughed with everyone and kept the mood light. Throughout the day they both were so non-instrusive that I did not even notice they were there. We also hired two videographers, and Amy and David worked very well with them to ensure everyone got the shot the needed. I cannot recommend Amy Raab enough, and will definitely ask her to photograph family pictures for me in the future!
