Additional Questions and Answers

What is the Process for a Destination Wedding?
Once you contact us, we ask some questions about what is important to you in your Dream Destination Wedding, your budget and the budget of your guests, what type of ceremony you want and some other information.

Then What?
We review your information to the questions we ask and then email you some resorts we feel would be a good match.

Okay, I found some resorts I am interested in...
We will then email you some sample pricing to see if this is within your budget.  If so, we then contact the location to see if they have the date available for your wedding!

Is there any resort you won't work with?
There are some resorts we will not recommend either because of feed back from previous couples or they don't work with travel agents.  If you still want your wedding at one of these resorts you will be notified why we do not recommend the resort.  Ultimately, it is your wedding or honeymoon you make the final decision.

The wedding is booked, how do we then proceed?
After we book the wedding, it is imperative that we make the reservations for the Bride and Groom.   Our preferred vendor relationship with many of the resorts allows us to negotiate rates for the couple and their guests better than what they can find on any travel websites.

We are having a wedding in the States but are interested in only a Honeymoon.
That is fine, our same relationship with the vendors will still get you a rate better than you can find on any travel website.

What is the cost to me?
The cost to the Bride & Groom is minimal.  There is no cost of a consulatation, if you decide you would like us to send you resort information, a deposit of $50 will be required for our services and then applied to your reservations.  Should you decide you no longer require our services the $50 is non refundable.

What is the cost for our guests?
There are no costs from A1 Discovery Travel to your guests.  They only pay for the reservations that they make.

What is the deposit for us and our guests on our reservations?
Depending on the type of reservation, the deposit can start at $125 per person for accommodations only to the full cost of at least the airfare.  Every quote will have the information as to the deposit amount and payment options.  We do offer an interest free payment plan after the deposit up until the final payment due date.

How many Destination Weddings have you worked with?
In the last year and a half, we have had 16 Destination Weddings in places like Jamaica, The Bahamas, St. Lucia, Cancun & Riviera Maya, Cabo San Lucas, Dominican Republic.

What Destinations can you work with?
We can work with any US Destination including Hawaii, US Virgin Islands, Las Vegas, Puerto Rico, Orlando.  We also work with the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Europe and Cruise ships.  As long as the destination you choose works with Travel Agents.  If you have any doubt, please ask us?

What is your background?
The owner has an Associates Degree in Travel & Tourism and has worked in different areas of Travel & Tourism for the past 18 years.  She is certified in the following areas:  Destination Weddings, Cancun, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Las Vegas, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, Marriott, Princess Cruise Line, Ramada, Trinidad & Tobago, Sandals & Beaches, AM Resorts and working on certification in many other locations.

I am Jewish can I still have a destination wedding?
Absolutely, we work closely with a Rabbi that does travel.

What about other religions?
Depending on the destination we may be able to have the officiant of that religion perform a ceremony.

I do not observe any religions, how will that effect my Destination Wedding?
Most locations use a Judge to perform a ceremony so it is a non-denominational ceremony.

I don’t see my question above...
Please call us or email us, we are happy to answer your questions!

Tips and Advice
Top 10 Reasons to Use a Travel Agent:

1.  You've Googled "Mexico Vacation", and come up with 17.8 million responses. Need a little help editing those choices?

2.   Remember when you used that obscure website to book your hotel, and when you got there you spent your beach vacation overlooking a parking lot?

3.   How many hours were you on hold with the airline when your flight was cancelled because of a snowstorm?

4.   Did you really mean to spend your honeymoon at that resort whose one tiny pool was filled all day with 12 screaming children?

5.   Who knew that when you booked that "Villa" in Tuscany, it would be a small room with a kitchenette and no air conditioning? Funny, it looked much better on your computer screen.

6.   No one explained to you that in July, it's winter time in Rio, and so you showed up there with nothing but five hawaiian shirts and three pairs of swimming trunks.

7.   How about the time you really needed a restful vacation, and you ended up in New Orleans during Mardi Gras and someone threw up on your shoes?

8.   Yes, I guess that hotel must have used a telephoto lens when they took a picture of those guest rooms that you saw on their website.

9.   I suppose contacting the Attorney General to resolve the fact that the internet site has billed your credit card three times instead of once is the only route to take at this point.

10.   It was definitely odd that there were no cab drivers at the airport at 3:00 am in the morning when you finally landed in Costa Rica, but booking a transfer to your very remote hotel would have been a good thing to remember when you purchased your airline ticket and hotel online
