24 Jun, 2017The story of our wedding
Jade was living in Washington, DC while Wilmon was in Philadelphia. Right after they secured their date at The Please Touch Museum, Wilmon got a job offer at the University of Southern California. Talk about multitasking, their wedding day occurred on June 24, 2017, three weeks before they relocated to Los Angeles! They still chose to plan every detail and hired a week of coordinator to make sure their vision was carried out. The wedding and reception were held at the historic Memorial Hall in Philadelphia, PA (now home to the Please Touch Museum). Jade and Wilmon chose a classic-contemporary theme -- a mix of traditional Christian nuptials with modern details, surprises, and outrageous fun -- to fully utilize the venue. Guests were attired in creative black tie, enjoying the juxtaposed ambiance of the museum’s lavish Beaux-Arts architecture and its more bright, airy and whimsical interiors. Navy and gray were the dominant colors, accented with gold and pops of rich purples, oranges, and greens.

Their wedding party consisted of ten bridesmaids, including Jade and Wilmon’s sisters, five of Jade’s sorority sisters from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and seven groomsmen, of which four are Wilmon’s fraternity brothers from Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour against the backdrop of the country’s oldest carousel, a three-course plated dinner and a full out dance party capped off with fries and milkshakes as a midnight snack. For the grand finale, pyrotechnics shot up to the evening sky, and Jade and Wilmon whisked away into the night. With the wedding being the center of a three-day event that included a welcome cocktail party and farewell brunch, it was truly the event of the summer and a magical going away party before the newlywed’s departure to the west coast.
