20 Jul, 2019The story of our wedding
From the very beginning we knew we wanted an outdoor wedding. Seth proposed when we were on a back packing trip in June of 2017, and most of our favorite activities are outdoors. When we found Woodinville Lavender we immediately fell in love with the venue. We felt that a lot of the venues we viewed that had outdoor locations didn't have great indoor options in case of inclement weather. Not only did Woodinville Lavender have an absolutely beautiful outdoor venue, the back up indoor options looked great as well, and all had a wonderful view of the lavender fields! Tom, the owner of the venue, obviously takes great pride in his venue and is meticuously organized. He also offers many rentals alongside his venue andif he doesn't have it available he know many rental companies that he works alongside. Tom took care of the tent, table, and chair rentals, and was able to provide yard games, bench seating for the cemony, a speaker and microphone, shephard hooks for the aisle, cocktail tables, and many other items that we did not take advantage of!

We narrowed it down to two different wedding planners, and after meeting with Rebecca at New Creations it was clear who we needed to help us with our wedding. The moment we met her we knew we hadn't just found someone to plan our wedding, but someone who cared about us as a couple. Rebecca wanted to know who we were and what we were passionate about, as well as what we envisioned our wedding to be. We had a very vague idea of what we wanted: lots of greenery, no structured dancing (neither of us are dancers), food truck catering, and a garden-party-esque reception. The next time we met her, she has a pinterest board that perfectly encapsulated what we wanted. She had tasked us with making one as well and many of the images we had chosen were also on her board! She had taken the broad idea we had given her, and the information she had learned about us, and perfectly captured what we wanted.
For the rest of the vendors we went with Barking Frog Catering, they have a mobile kitchen that they can serve out of, so you still get gourmet catering, but we got the food truck feel that we desired. Street Treats provided ice cream sandwiches for desert, guests chose their cookie and ice cream flavor pairing. Rosenoak provided live music for the ceremony and cocktail hour, they played beautifully and have a extensive repertiore available for you to choose from for your ceremony. We chose to use a spotify playlist and a speaker for music after cocktail hour. Caren Morris did such a wonderful job with our engagement photoshoot that there was no need to look for anyone else to do our wedding. Kristal with Sublime Stems was our florist, we only had one planning meeting with her and one table mock-up meeting. At the table mock-up the centerpiece she brought was beautiful and she discussed with us any changes that might be made thoroughly. At the wedding the centerpieces were perfect and it was clear she had taken our critiques to heart and made the appropriate adjustments. The rest of the floral arrangements she provided were also perfect adn exactly what we had envisioned when talking to her. Our whole vendor team came together to make the day absolutely perfect. And Rebecca was there day of making sure everything went perfectly, and seemed to ahve a 6th sense on where she needed to be.
Neither of us are religious so we elected for a wine box ceremony instead of a religious ceremony. I designed a custom "logo" or shield and Artificer Woodworks engraved it onto one of their custom keepsake and wine boxes. Seths' dad officiated, we wrote our own vows, and we had our very own and very personal non-denominational ceremony. Instead of dancing we had a great time playing yard games with all of our guests, and we really felt that we had the chance to connect with everyone we invited, which was very important to us. We had a small wedding (40 people) so everyone that was there was very important to us, and some we hadn't seen in a number of years.
