22 Sep, 2018The story of our wedding
I met Mike in December of 2014, shortly after I started my new job at Amazon Robotics in North Reading, MA. He introduced himself to me one day by asking if I liked his cowboy boots, which greatly confused me considering it was the dead of a cold, Boston winter. After dancing the night away at our company holiday party, we dated briefly for a few months but ultimately decided that we were better suited as friends. Over the months that followed, Mike became my bestie, my shoulder to cry on, my go-to for work advice, and partner in crime. We frequently got sushi and drinks after work, which always ended in a million laughs and occasionally a drunk kiss goodnight. Finally, in August 2016, Mike and I were single at the same time and he asked me to be his date to a friend's wedding. To my delight, we have been inseparable (and slightly insufferable) ever since. We moved to Seattle together after dating for only four months, and enjoyed the PNW for just shy of a year and a half. We have since returned to Boston and live together with our two wild cats: Layla and Chester.

Per our annual tradition, Mike and I booked a flight to Naples, Florida to spend Thanksgiving with Mike's family. I was sad about being away from my parents and sister during the holiday season but also super excited to trade Seattle's rain for some sun. We spent the first few days enjoying the beautiful weather, eating fish tacos, and drinking pina coladas. We also smoked a few cigars like a couple of posers. On our third night in Florida, Mike made reservations at our favorite restaurant, The Turtle Club, which is nestled in between palm trees on Vanderbuilt Beach. It was a beautiful evening and we were looking forward to watching the sunset together over dinner. As we were walking to the Turtle Club, Mike stopped me and pulled out his sunglasses case. I thought that he was going to simply put on his shades, but before I knew it, Mike was down on a knee asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. Within seconds, I turned around and saw that my entire family was waiting (and crying) at the restaurant. It was a the absolute best, most magical night EVER.
We got married on September 22nd, 2018, because how else would we celebrate the first day of fall? It was a gorgeous day at the Wequassett Resort in Harwich, MA – sixty degrees, sunny, with a crisp breeze. It was an incredible experience start to finish – the flowers were unbelievable, the ceremony space on the lawn looked like something straight out of a dream, and the reception space was scented by pumpkin spice diffusers all over the room. The pictures really capture what a beautiful wedding we had, thanks to all of our vendors and the love and support of our friends and family. I wish I could relive it every day!
