19 Jul, 2025The story of our wedding
Our Happy, Happy Day
After ten years together, our wedding day on July 19, 2025 felt like the most natural—and most magical—next chapter. We got engaged on a sunset trip to The Sagamore in Lake George, NY, where Max surprised Matthew on the hotel’s rooftop deck overlooking the lake. From that moment, we knew our wedding had to feel just as intimate and personal.
We said our vows in Max’s grandparents’ backyard in Hammonton, NJ, then celebrated with cocktail hour and a joyful reception at Kathedral Event Center, just minutes away. We welcomed about 80 guests into a setting of classic, timeless elegance with subtle art deco flair. Our palette of black, white, and gold set the tone for an evening that was warm, chic, and unmistakably ours.
Every detail reflected our story. We designed custom monograms, created signature cocktails named after our dachshunds, and incorporated heartfelt touches for loved ones we felt dancing with us in spirit. Our lifelong motto—“A happy, happy day,” a phrase Max started saying at age two—became the heartbeat of the celebration.
Continue reading »Fashion played a part in that personalization too. Max wore a black tuxedo with off-white accents, and Matthew wore off-white with black accents, perfectly complementing each other. For our gifts, we exchanged custom cufflinks: Matthew’s carried Max’s handwriting, while Max’s were engraved with “M+M” and our wedding date.
To make sure everyone traveled in style and comfort, Albert’s Limousine provided luxurious shuttles for our guests and a classic Rolls Royce for the two of us. Their team kept everything perfectly on schedule, making the ride between ceremony and reception smooth and stress-free.
One of the most memorable surprises came when Max revealed a live wedding painter, Jeffrey Hull, as a gift for Matthew. Throughout the evening, Jeffrey captured our first dance on canvas, delighting our guests as they watched the painting come to life. Now that finished piece hangs in our home as part of our art collection—forever encapsulating the day we became one.
The entire day overflowed with emotion. From our vows to the speeches, there wasn’t a dry eye—including among the men! But once the music started, the dance floor turned into pure, electric joy. We truly felt on Cloud 9.
We couldn’t have done it without an incredible team. Gemella Fiori Designs brought our floral dreams to life. Rob Spring Photography and 10Eighteen Weddings captured every glance and happy tear. ByrdCage wowed everyone with unforgettable food and drinks, Center Stage Entertainment kept the party going, and Just In Time Events ensured our plan unfolded seamlessly so we could stay immersed in our newlywed bubble.
Looking back, the best part was how our wedding felt—a true reflection of our love story and the people who mean the most to us. It really was, in every way, our happy, happy day.
