Zoom Ceremony

Nicole, on January 9, 2021 at 8:38 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 12
Hey Brides!

Has anyone done a Zoom ceremony in the last couple of months? We’re still getting married as planned on January 30th, 2021. Guest count has gone down from 130 to 60 which we expected, but we have several guests who I still really want to be able to see the ceremony. I originally wanted to have an unplugged ceremony (not wanting to have my photographer’s shots ruined by phones!), so I’m curious about how some of y’all may have handled the logistics of making this happen??

I've attended several. They were simply okay. The biggest frustration was how many people (usually older) would not put their screen on mute. I could hear everything! Babies crying, dogs barking, people flushing toilets, urinating. This convinced me to not have a zoom wedding lol

I streamed our ceremony but not through Zoom. Like the above commenter said, people cannot figure out how to mute themselves on Zoom.
I used the app Lovecast. It was free, allowed me to do a few practice runs (wanted to make sure we could see and hear properly) and basically is just a link that guests click on and they can watch the stream.
The cool thing too is that there is a chat so guests can give their congratulations and you can actually read all those comments later. The app also automatically downloads the stream onto the phone. So now we have a little video for free!We basically just put the phone on a tripod by the altar so it could see us. We had a friend in the audience press play and then move the camera as we walked in, basically the first angle was of the ceremony walkway and second angle just us at the altar.

Thanks so much for sharing this! We have decided to stream our ceremony as well, and we were looking for an alternative platform to zoom. Will definitely be checking this out now!

I’m not sure if you mean to watch or stream from.
I had family in France watch it with no problem. I don’t know if you can stream from a different country but I don’t see why not. I’d contact their customer service and ask them

My videographer is handling my livestream through the zoom platform. He will control the sound, etc.

We used zoom this past summer and just had someone hold my phone and my brother got married this fall and did a Facebook live. Both worked okay!

I was asking to watch! I have family in Brazil that will not be able to come. I was thinking to share with Facebook live at the beginning, but now I am considering other options. Thank you so much for the tip! 😊

We attended a Zoom wedding and it was really nice to feel like we were a part of it without actually getting to be there in person. They had their photographer handle it, so the bride gave her phone to the photographer and he set it up on a tripod to the side of the wedding. He just turned the volume all the way down so people who were watching and didn't mute couldn't be heard. Then at the end he grabbed her phone and walked us through the venue where the reception was and we got to see the entrances and speeches. So if you have someone like that who would be willing to do it for little to no cost, I say go for it. Just make sure to turn the volume on your phone down!

Thank you for this thread! It was very informative. I’ve been debating using zoom for my minimony and this helped a lot. I definitely don’t want family /friends feeling left out although we plan to have a big reception once things are “safer”. (Who knows when that will be.)

Thank you all for your input! I was definitely worried about people being on zoom and not knowing how to mute so I’m probably gonna look into Love Cast.
