Your Better Half...or So They Say

The Bride, on May 27, 2019 at 5:12 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 21
Many people feel that their spouse is their better half and make up for what they lack. In what way(s) does your partner make you whole?

I don’t know about “better half” 😉, but we do balance each other out. My FH is much more outgoing and sociable, while I’m much more of an introvert, so he helps get me out of my shell.

Hi Jessica! Thank you for your response. I would consider my husband to be an introvert whereas I am out going. I guess opposties do attract.

FH is very good about calming me down when I’m upset, listening to my nonsensical babbling, doing everything he can to put a smile on my face, and just pretty darn great all around

We are alike as much as we are different....same ideals, morals, spiritually grounded, family focused. But, we balance each other beautifully in the ways we differ. I'm idealistic, he's realistic, I'm emotional, he's logical, I'm flighty, he grounded.

My FH and I are very opposite. I am a taurus and he's an aries. He goes with the flow and lives in the moment. Adrenaline junkie, not sensitive or care about much and extravert. I plan my next breath (his words) and am very calm/safe, goodie two shoes and interovert. Together I level him out and he keeps me laughing/not so serious

I am extremely outgoing, and FH is more reserved. He’s talkative once you get to know him but not nearly as talkative and loud as I am. Lol. I love wedding planning but some days, I’m a little dramatic when things don’t work out the way I want them to, and FH is GREAT at calming me down and reassuring me that our wedding is going to be amazing! He’s also super funny (even though I don’t want to admit it to him sometimes 😂) so he’s super good at making me laugh!

Hi Amanda! Thank you for your response. That sounds like a super fun relationship. My husband is an Aries as well and I am a Scorpio.

Hi Lauren! Thank you for your response. I was the same way when planning our wedding and my husband kept me calm. I found that the wedding planning process brought us even closer together and opened him up even more.

He's everything I am in mind- similar tastes, interests, intellects, life goals- but everything I'm not in behaviour. He's messy, unorganised, impulsive, forgetful... but also more patient, empathetic, open-minded and introspective than I could ever hope to be. It's a great balance- I don't mind being the one to do the housework and make social plans, so long as he's there to keep me aware of current events and calm me down when I'm riled up!! I know a lot of people think interdependence is a bad thing, but I feel comforted that we complete each other so well, and it's really nice to rely on someone who relies on me. Smiley smile

Mine believes in the other half statement, he thinks I make him whole.
I personally think we are whole beings before our relationship but that we compliment one another's strengths and fill work together to fill in where one of us might not be so strong.
I am very organized, I plan my every week at least three months in advanced, I am an extrovert for sure. Fiance is an introvert, he's not so organized, and reminds me that sometimes I need to stop and smell the roses, he's very laid back and calm, whereas I am "tightly wound" with a short temper.
I'd like to think we balance each other out and flush out each other's good side.

Hi Robert! Thank you for your response. I think spouses should be dependent on each other, that's what relationships are all about.

Hi Kelly! Thank you for your response. I agree that spouses compliment each other rather than making them whole.

Hi Lizbeth! Thank you for your response. Yes it is cliche but I think there is also a lot of truth behind the saying.
