Yellowstone to Sedona

Jennifer, on September 27, 2018 at 4:10 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 13

Hi All! We got married last weekend, but we decided to save our honeymoon for next April due to some work conflicts. We are starting the planning phase now and have decided to take two weeks and road trip from Yellowstone National Park down to Sedona Az. We plan to hit the national parks on the way down, but does anyone have any must see's or do besides those? We are the adventurous type and also love to be where the locals are anytime we vacation or road trip.

St. George, Utah is really fun to stop at. You are surrounding by beautiful red sand, and it's just an awesome site to see and go take pictures at. Wyoming has a few hot springs that are pretty cool, depending on which way you plan on driving, so I'd look into those! You probably won't drive through Colorado right? But if you did, I'd FOR SURE stop in Telluride just to see the amazing area down there. It's so beautiful.

This is great thank you! We are heading south to Sedona from Yellowstone, I will def check out Wyoming in the path on the way down. No unfortunately we are not hitting Colorado this time but we are making our way back west (from NJ) the year after next and will have to check out Telluride. Thank you for the suggestion about St. George!

I was gonna say, if you don't have plans to visit Grand Tetons, you've gotta. It's amazing and basically right next door to Yellowstone. The hot springs in Thermopolis, WY are pretty cool (I'm not 100 percent sure if they're on the way, but definitely worth a Google search.) and definitely drive down Interstate 15 going into Salt Lake City if you can. I made that drive (and further) last year and it was incredible how you cross an arbitrary state line, but you can tell that you've crossed into another state. Always have your camera on hand. Stop at Arches National Park in Moab, Utah! Very possibly the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Lots of hiking, and Moab is such a cute little town too!

I've heard Canyonlands National Park is amazing too and it is close to Moab I believe. I have never made it there, but the friend who told me about Moab also loves Canyonlands so I trust his opinion haha

Hi Jennifer! Sedona will be so beautiful in April! Smiley heart A few ideas for when you're there:

There are great, scenic hiking trails in the area, like one called Devils Bridge. Looking up different hiking trails to see different views and experience the stunning terrain is something I recommend! There's some that are more scenic and some that are more active, so definitely something for everyone.

In town, there's scheduled Jeep Tours where you're taken through all the beautiful red rocks and off-roading !

There's also great wineries in the area, too, if you're interested in wine tasting. Smiley heart

Yes Sedona is gorgeous that time of year! We live about 90 minutes south and went last May. There's amazing hiking everywhere. If you like Italian food check out Hideaway House restaurant and there's a really cute coffee shop/wine tasting room across the parking lot. Also, a (partial) day trip up to Jerome is fun if you like something a little spooky. It's only about 20-30 minutes away. The town closes up shop by about 9:00 pm and is really slow-paced and laid back, which I love! Enjoy!!

I live in AZ and i love Sedona. I am planning a trip to Yellowstone in the summer lol.

hike Devil's bridge and West Fork and Bear mountain and Crescent moon trail and Bell rock. All beautiful views. you are speaking my language. Telluride is on my bucket list.

I second going to arches national park and also Zion in utah so awesome there too. Those were some of the prettiest trails to see.

horseshoe bend in AZ on my bucket list too and also the wave in AZ on my bucket list and also I want to do lake Powell to see antelope canyon and I haven't made it yet.

Another vote for horseshoe bend and antelope canyon if your route takes you that way. I also highly recommend the pink Jeep tour in Sedona - it was absolutely amazing. The cathedral rock hike is great too. Short, but great views!
