I need some serious help! I went to get my dress altered and have a bustle put in and when I picked it up they said that it can no be bustled do to the layering. Where I purchased my gown did not do alterations in house but gave this tailor as a recommendation and said he did tons of their alterations and was amazing, I was not impressed. The ladies at the boutique told me it could be bustled when I asked so I find it hard to believe that a dress made by such a famous designer can not be bustled. My tailors response was “well this is a one time wear who cares if the bottom gets ruined.” Which is not what I want to hear. My wedding is outside and my dress is going to get destroyed! Does anyone know how to have this or any multi-layered skirts bustled!? I attached pictures for reference. Also I get married in two weeks and he JUST NOW told me this 😒

    Are you open to putting a wrist loop on the base layer of the dress? That way you can hold the train up.

    Definitely go elsewhere! My sister had a multi-layered tulle skirt and there were no problems bustling it. It is more work, because each layer has to be buttoned up separately, but it can definitely be done.

    Do NOT do a wrist loop. You'll be exhausted carrying around all that fabric all day, and you won't be able to dance freely.

    I'm not a seamstress but I would think there has to be a way to bustle. I would start calling other seamstresses asap & ask if they are able to do bustle with multilayers and material. I'm sure you can email the skirt picks to them. Theres no way I would want my dress ruined.

    My skirt is almost the same. It’s being hustled now. The seamstress said it’s a little more work but not much different than a traditional bustle. I have my next fitting on Friday. I can send you pictures if you want

    It sounds like he just doesn't want to do the work. It really sucks that he waited so long to tell you this.

    Your dress is beautiful! But I would go somewhere else and get another opinion.
