Wrong date on a handmade gift

Cathy, on November 1, 2019 at 11:46 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
One of our guests gave us a beautiful handmade sampler with our name on it. The problem is, they got the wedding date wrong, Smiley sad
we want to display this, but how is the best way to do so? Every time we look at it, we’ll know the date is wrong.
Thoughts?

Oh, that's kind of sad, actually! I'm sure your friends meant well, and it sounds like you like the piece, regardless of the mistake.

You know what the correct date is, so if you want to display it, go for it!! It can become your little inside joke with your spouse. Smiley smile

I would hang it up or whatever and just think of it as an inside joke. I never take things seriously that if effects my day to day life. If people come over and ask about it just make a joke like yep, we secretly got married on this date, 😉. But that’s just me.

I agree with PPs! Display it as you normally would and I'm sure it'll become a funny story later!

Did they order it from a store/company? Maybe try reaching out to that company. We have really good family friends that sent us an ornament with what they thought was our engagement date but it was actually two days off. I didn't have the heart to tell them it was wrong so I called (luckily it was from Disney who's customer service is beyond amazing) and they had no problem sending us a new corrected ornament. Now we have a new one with the correct date and no one will ever know it was wrong ☺️
