Writing names in on our rsvp Cards

Victoria, on November 18, 2021 at 9:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

So, we have decided we will be writing the names on our RSVP cards before we send them, that way it is explicit on who is invited.

My question is, does anyone have any ideas of how to put the names on the RSVP cards other than writing them with a pen? I just feel like writing them in my fiancee or mines handwriting might not look good. I already have ordered and received the RSVP cards with the blank line for the RSVP because I didn't want to custom print 175 rsvp cards.

At the end of the day if I have to write them in with pen, I will do so but just wanted to explore my options and see if anyone had any ideas.

Thanks!

I wrote mine in as well. If you don’t have good handwriting you can ask a friend who does for help.

Typically you list the people invited on the envelope itself. What is the guest supposed to do if not all of them are going to attend? The guests write in the names of the specific people that will be coming (like if you invite a family and they decide to leave the kids at home).

We personalized our RSVP cards so each person invited will have their own line on the card with their own option to accept or decline

The best way to do this is have each printed card printed with the names. It makes it very clear who is invited. A local print shop should be able to do this for you.

A friend of mine found the bridesmaid with the best handwriting and took her to lunch, then they went to her place and had a rom com movie marathon while the BM wrote names and the bride stuffed envelopes and put on stamps. I admittedly have very nice handwriting and can fake calligraphy with some of the best, my friends know this, and I would be more than happy to write names on things for friends for their weddings!

Writing them is probably going to be the most cost effective and least time intensive, even if not the prettiest result.

Alternatively you can get translucent labels (like an office supply store) and print names on them and stick them on the RSVP cards. It will add a small cost, but might look better if your handwriting is truly atrocious.

Any other options (stamping, printing direct on the cards) is likely to take considerable time or cost a good chunk of money to have someone else do.

Do you think guests RSVPing for those who aren't invited is going to be a prevalent issue? As long as the invites are addressed to specific people, it should be very clear who is invited, and not necessary for you to pre-fill in the RSVP cards. If there are just a few guests you are worried about you can always pre-fill out just those RSVP cards and leave the rest blank. That way crazy Aunt Ida doesn't try to bring her neighbor but you don't have to worry about pre-filling out RSVPs for your best friend and her fiance, etc.
